Babies are a blessing to all of us, and when they come along they can change our lives for the better. When you have a baby it feels like you are being thrown in the deep end, not knowing what to do, and for the most part this is how every new parent feels.
Today we are going to take a look at some of the home remedies you can use for your baby when they are sick. Kids get sick very easily and sometimes often as their immune system starts to develop – and as a parent you should know these tips to help ease their sunrooms as well as make them feel more comfortable.
Onion for a stuffy nose
One of the first tips we want to share with you is something you can try alongside your baby cold medicine to help them breathe more easily with a stuffy nose. Onions have potent juices, as we know, and cutting one in half and placing it on a plate next to your baby as they sleep. You can also consider turning on your room humidifier and this will help to diffuse the scent and clear your baby’s airways.
Help a fever with lemon water
Lemons are often something parents are scared to bring near their baby, and it’s unsurprising. The acidic nature of lemons can make them seem a little daunting however they can actually be very beneficial to your baby when they have a fever. If you notice that you baby has a fever, take a few lemons and juice them into a large bowl. Mix this with water and then give your baby a sponge bath with the mixture. The lemon will help cool and soothe their skin and will also make them smell amazing!
Use prunes for constipation
Prunes are a mothers favourite when it comes to curing constipation. If your baby is struggling with healthy bowel movements it is time to think about using prunes to clear them out and help them feel better. Either blend up some prunes or get some prune baby food and feed this to your child when they are feeling ill. It will make a huge difference as they are full of fibre and vitamins and will help your baby start going regally once more.
Swaddle with a warm towel when sick
One thing that is hard to witness when your baby is sick is their discomfort when trying to sleep. Your baby doesn’t understand why they feel so ill and as a result they can become fussy and emotional. This is why we recommend that you warm a damp towel in the microwave until lightly warm, and then swaddle your baby with this as they sleep. The warmth with comfort them and make them feel better.
If your baby feels ill this month and you want to help them feel more comfortable and happy, these are the easiest home remedies you can use. Try them and see how much they help your baby.
