1; Armor-Inspired Leggings; it is no secret that I love bad ass women, and would like to be a bad ass woman, and am hopeful I may already be on my way. For those of us that need some extra reinforcement, these armor-inspired leggings from Lorica Clothing will do the trick. You will look like a warrior princess even when you are walking the dogs, cleaning up baby vomit or taking out the trash. Speaking of trash, these leggings are made in the USA derived from recycled plastic bottles. I mean…can this clothing line be any cooler? Check out their Kickstarter and support their amazing business venture!
2. Always enamel pin; sure, there are a lot of enamel pins out there, but I can’t stop…won’t stop. I’m building an epic “fandom jacket” that will be completed and showcased to the world at this year’s San Diego Comic Con, and I am constantly on the hunt for the perfect pins to add to it. I love an understated pin, and that what this beautiful always lightning bolt pin is. It’s simple and gets to the Potterhead point.
3. Undeaddee; commission portraits are something that most bloggers and fangirls are savvy to. We love a good illustrated portrait for our various avatars and headers by talented artists. However, there is just something about Dee’s gorgeous and whimsical art. She joined Geek Girl Brunch South Florida, added me on Instagram and I have gone to admire her from afar for some bit. In fact, til this day, we have still not met (can that change soon Dee?). Regardless, check out her beautiful artwork, and request a commission if your little heart so desires. All my online avatars are the one she made of me, I gifted my husband with a portrait of our little family for Valentine’s, I just commissioned her for a full body Luna piece and I am begging her to do more, more and more. The lovely image used is of the adorable Nabila and her portrait.
4. The Little Mermaid kimono; kimonos are all the fandom rage these days, and I’m very much OK with that. Living in Miami, a lightweight and sheer coverup that works for the office and socializing is absolutely perfect for our brutally hot weather. I am even attempting to learn how to make them myself now that I have taken up sewing as a hobby (seriously, do I think I have time to spare or something?). Anywaysssss, I adore this Little Mermaid design from Hot Topic, and need to make it mine. On an aside, have you guys seen the trailer for the live-action Hans Christian Andersen version? I HATE IT. I would have much preferred a Disney rendition.
We Love Fine: Marvel Leggings
We Love Fine is at it again with their amazing fandom-inspired legging designs. They have just released two “fan-funded” styles that are absolutely adorkable. You can preorder either the low-waisted Iron Man leggings or the high-waisted Groot leggings for just $40 – the catch? They need to meet their pre-order goals in order to go into production. So if you are digging either one of these styles, help them become a reality! They’d make a perfect holiday gift for that geeky girl in your life or use them as an excuse to treat yo’self.
I’m obsessed with the Groot leggings and think either would be perfect for your next local Geek Girl Brunch meetup, movie premiere or Con. Although, lets be completely honest: Any time is a good time to wave your fandom flag high and proud. Interested in some styles that are available now? These are some of my favorites:
Chewy | Adventure Time | Loki
Happy shopping, geeks!
What I Wore: Moonie Power
It’s really no surprise at this point that I am a huge Sailor Moon fan – I mean, it really shouldn’t be. I adore all things magical and girl power so naturally I was drawn to the anime when I was a kid and still absolutely fawn over it as an adult. I love that with the success of Sailor Moon Crystal, all new sorts of merch is being put out there, but what I’m loving the most is those made with a lot of love by independent designers, like Geekilicious!
Elise makes all sorts of fangirl goodies, like throw pillows, iPhone cases and spiral notebooks, but she just recently started incorporating more clothing into the mix and I am so glad she did. She has these beautiful mini skirts and leggings made with such quality materials. I personally can’t wait to rock some of the mini’s once I get working on my post-baby bod, but I was excited to be able to play dress up with these fantastic Usagi leggings. It’s not every day that a pregnant girl gets to feel “super cute” in an outfit, but this one did the trick! Little pro tip? Pair leggings with not only a basic top, like I did, but also with a longer button down. This will help mask any “muffin topp-ing” that could possibly occur thanks to those new baby pounds.

Fandom Leggings
Leggings. I immediately think of Daria’s obnoxious sister, Quinn.
You just heard her voice in your head, didn’t you?
I had been on the fence about leggings for quite some time. Probably because I see people mistaking them for PANTS. Pants they are not, my friends. They are meant to be worn with an over-sized tunic top or any top that at least covers your crotch and the majority of your backside. If not, I (and everyone else) sees more than they signed up for at any given moment (especially when you bend over – yikes).
With that said, when worn appropriately, I have grown to love them. They are comfy and easy to wear, plus the fandom world has taken to creating all sorts of character and story driven leggings. This means more room in your luggage when packing for conventions, as you can just roll them up into a tiny little log of goodness. However, their price tag has always made me think twice. They usually run between $60-100 and I just couldn’t justify paying that for a pair of leggings I would just wear to specialty events.
But low and behold! I have discovered this fantastic Etsy shop that I have decided to share with all of you, velvetcoc. Unfortunate name aside, they sell amazing fandom leggings for $18 and are currently holding a 2-4-1 sale!!! The seller is located in China, so you will have to wait for your goodies with bated breath, but honestly, it only took 2 weeks for my pair to arrive. Not too shabby! I’m crossing all body parts that she’ll add Doctor Who inspired leggings next!
