- Ron Swanson Dress; OK, it is no secret that I adore Ron Swanson. He reminds me of my dad, and is my spirit animal. If you know me personally, you know all our eery similarities. One of them is breakfast food, namely, bacon and eggs, so this dress is absolutely everything. Have I mentioned that my birthday is this month? Just sayin’.
- LulaRoe Disney Collection; By now you guys know about my love/hate with LulaRoe. I adore how soft and comfy and perfectly fitting their products are, but I tend to hate their patterns. I think someone once described them as looking like really bad 70’s window treatments or couch upholstery and I could not say otherwise. Eighty five percent of their patterns do. But they just recently came out with their Disney collection and I am so so so hooked. Like, just give me all the Disney stuff and walk away unscathed. I’ve managed to snatch up a pair of leggings and a Cassie skirt already. I’m currently hunting down a Carly, so if you can hook up a sista’, let me know.
- Gryffindor Kimono; Yeah, yeah. I know that Black Milk came out with a HP line. I know. I tried to buy a piece but it was already sold out because craziness, amirite? So I look elsewhere for awesome potter threads. I adore kimonos (they are so working girl chic), and Hot Topic now has one for each house, so I mean….need I say more? Oh yeah, I do. They are currently one sale. The end.
- My Doctor pin; You wanna touch my fangirl feels? Immediately mention my Doctor! For those that are not familiar with the fandom, it may sound strange, but Doctor Who is such a humanistic and emotional series. They say you never forget your first doctor…but what if I resonated more with my 2nd? I have to say that the 9th was my first, but it was such a cheesy season. It was really hard to soldier through, but a couple of seasons into the 10th, I was sold (even with the killer Christmas trees). These pins are fantastic (no pun intended) and I can’t wait to snag one!
What I Wore: SDCC Ready
It’s only one month until SDCC 2017 is in full swing, and I’ve begun planning my outfits. This year is all about comfort, while still being true to my fun and feminine aesthetic. There is a lot I can’t wait to share with you all about this year’s visit, but for now, here is one of my favorite SDCC outfits that I have put together to date.
Tee; Geek Girl Gang
Skirt; LulaRoe
Kicks; Target
Shades; Gap {similar}
I remember how I came up with the “comic con is my cardio” design. I was literally at SDCC, running from one event to the next. I was out of breath and sweaty. I looked over to my friend who was running next to me, and said “comic con is my cardio.” Then I stopped, and realized: that should be on a shirt. Geek Girl Gang wasn’t born for another 2 years, but the idea stayed with me. I’m so (gag)blessed(gag) to be able to be wearing my designs this year to con, and knowing other people will be too. I mean…how crazy rad is that?
I’m also test running how my Lularoe Cassie skirts do on the road during strenuous conditions. I love the way they look with my tees, and immediately makes a simple look turn up a notch to be a little sexier (sign me up!). I turn it down again by pairing it with sneakers and voila! My perfect little fashion nook.
Here’s hoping I’m comfy and cute at this year’s SDCC!
Who else will be joining me?
What I Wore; Impromptu Date Night
Date nights are far and few between these days, so when babysitting was offered at the last minute last week, we took it and ran! Although we didn’t end up making the right decision (not impressed with CityPlace Doral), we had a great time with each other catching up. In fact, I don’t think we talked about baby stuff once! Adult conversations: success.
Top; Uniqlo
Skirt; LulaRoe
Sneakers; Target
Lips; Colourpop’s Mars
At first, I have to admit that LulaRoe seemed silly to me. I thought it was clothes that housewives wore in the Midwest (no offense to housewives that may read my blog in the Midwest), so I didn’t even look into it. But I’ve been pleasantly surprised – I really dig their dresses, and especially skirts. They are SO comfortable. I still don’t like 80% of their patterns, but I find myself scouring through different consultant’s inventory to find the right ones. This Cassie skirt in mustard yellow is pure perfection. I feel sexy, while still comfy. I pumped up the comfort level by pairing it with an oversized crop tee + sneakers.
This outfit, my fresh new ‘do (bangs are back!) + plenty of vodka tonics were more than enough to keep this mama happy.
What I Wore; Fantastic Beast
The magic of the Harry Potter universe means a whole lot to me. I started reading the books when I met my now husband-then boyfriend. I immediately got hooked and Harry and his gang became my best friends while I went away to grad school alone, without knowing a soul in a new city. I have vivid memories of laying on my dorm room bed in the dark, completely transported to the world of Hogwarts. As the kids say, “it’s real to us.” That’s why this new film, Fantastic Beats and Where to Find Them, had big shoes to fill. But I was so pleasantly surprised it did. And I’m pretty sure it filled 15 other shoes as well because it was brilliant. And magical. And made me feel every emotion possible. Can we just all agree on how great it is to have the wizarding world back with us?
With that said, I wore my very first LulaRoe purchase to see the film opening weekend, and I can understand the hype. I purchased a Cassie skirt, which is a form fitted pencil skirt. You guys know I like my ultra-feminine outfits, so this just seemed like it would be the best fit for my style. I paired it with a Gryffindor crop top, my fandom jacket, my new favorite booties + my wand, naturally. I mean, you didn’t think this witch would leave home without it, right? 😉
