What I Wore: Summer Casual

We had big plans for Saturday. After too many back-to-back vacations and just general bad eating, the hubs and I are on a strict calorie-counting regime, and we really want to incorporate more exercise and physical activities into our daily routine (we were getting way too comfortable being couch potatoes). This is why we were really excited to pull our bikes out of the garage and start riding again. Unfortunately, Miami’s fickle weather did not work in our favor. Mid-way through our ride, it began to torrentially downpour. We had to pedal to the metal all the way back home, but at least we got a lot of shrieks and laughter in. That’s gotta count for something right?

What I Wore: Birthday Girl!

After a fun trip to the Keys with some of my closest friends, I closed my birthday weekend with a family get together at my sister’s house. We had a great time laughing, reminiscing and comparing sibling similarities. I wanted to be comfortable, but also play the role of the birthday girl. I thought it was the perfect opportunity to pull out my new H&M outfit that I picked up while in California a couple of weeks back. I can’t tell you how in love I am with it and I can’t wait to remix the separate pieces. Apparently polka dots were a theme this year. 😉

What I Wore: Birthday Date

Even though it seems like the hubs and I would spend a ridiculous amount of time together, we don’t really get a chance to be alone and romantic too much. Life tends to get in the way, like it often does, and before we know it, we have not gone on a date in months. I think dates are a super important part of relationships that help keep them fresh and fun, so I was very happy when the hubs suggested we have a romantic dinner date for my birthday this past weekend.

We ate at Grazianos, a really delicious Argentinian steak house (we are carnivores), where we had good wine, good conversation, and snuck in some sweet hand holding and flirtatious looks. It was followed by seeing Wes Anderson’s latest flick, Moonrise Kingdom, which was hands down adorable and the perfect choice for the evening (he had deemed Batman wasn’t romantic enough). And it was lovely. I couldn’t imagine starting my birthday weekend off better.

I am such a lucky girl.

What I Wore: Crochet Short Shorts Remix!

This is my one last effort on giving shorts a shot, so you all better listen up and enjoy it! I’m sure it comes as no surprise to all of you that crochet shorts are all the rage. They can be seen everywhere, and I’ve personally seen quite a few of my favorite bloggers rocking a pair or two. Even though I struggle with a love/hate relationship with shorts, I had to give these a little love. They are a little vintage, and a little sassy (kind of like me), so what’s not to love? 😉

What I Wore: Jolly Green Melificent?

Still attempting the “trying to love shorts” project. And I have to admit, I’m kind of losing this battle. I just do not find them very flattering, although I did think this outfit was very cute, festive and summer-y. I’m not going to toss all my shorts in a bonfire anytime soon, but I believe I’ll stick to skirts, dresses, pants and jeans for now. You know who is the real star of this post? MY HOUSE. Isn’t it just the cutest??? Sorry, I have homeowners tourettes. I also loved that I am now able to twirl my hair and apply some hairspray and voila! Instant beach hair! It’s very hard to even consider getting a haircut on days like this!

Additionally I want to thank a lot of you for giving me recommendations last week on places to find great shorts for my body type. As I’m sure you can all tell, I am very petite on top, while my hips don’t lie (thank you Cuban roots), so I appreciate a good curvy fit. I will definitely be checking out Ann Taylor Loft as suggested, and so should all you other ladies with a similar shape!
