Last weekend my closest friends threw me a surprise pool party, and you can consider this the highlight reel. Although at first I was slightly annoyed, I now have to smile that my hubs barely took any pictures. That just means that we had such a great time, we weren’t even thinking of picking up a camera. I can honestly say that I really enjoyed every second of that day. To everyone involved, thank you so much for making me feel so special and loved.

Sorry to not be able to share Lovable Friday with you all today, but I am very busy planning and getting ready for our Memorial Day pool party tomorrow! So the whole idea behind our 30th birthdays was that we were going to celebrate by traveling to Europe. No big parties, no big hoopla. Yeah, I always have a hard time doing low key. It’s just not my style. 😉
After some thought, I decided I was still going to celebrate my big 3-0 after all. Although nothing out of this world, I am planning a very fun fiesta at our home. Although I don’t have a theme per say, I will be hosting a pool party “to wash away the dirty in my 30’s,” in our hopefully (at that time) renovated pool. I want a cute and kitschy vibe going – very outdoor BBQ-esque, complete with cocktails in mason jars, paper straws, bunting, great music, hula hoop competitions and a DIY photobooth. And color, color, color!

I’m hoping to tackle a lot of DIY projects for the party and really make it my own, after all, I have 6 months to plan away! I really like the whole playful, youthful theme (guess I do have a theme after all!) for my 30th birthday, as I still feel as vibrant and full of life as I did back when I turned 21. Possibly, even more. I look back at my past with nostalgia and so many happy memories, and embrace my future with open arms, full of hope and excitement.
Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy my long weekend to the fullest because I came down with a pretty nasty cold mid-week. Thankfully, resting all Friday by calling in sick from work helped me feel well enough to hit the road Saturday night to attend the grand opening party for Pink Ghost, a great vinyl toy and art store (among other things). The store used to be located across the street from my hubby’s office in Las Olas, but recently made the move to Hollywood Circle, which from what I hear (I’m not that familiar with the area) was a good choice. We were so happy for the owners (we’ve developed a close relationship with them) and were blown away with the turn out! I picked up an adorable autographed “chubby book” illustrated by Helena Garcia, who was gracious enough to attend the party and sign her work. For those of you who dig this kind of merchandise and are local, definitely make your way over to Pink Ghost – the items are fun, the people are friendly and the location is ace! It’s pretty apparent we have welcomed summer here in South Florida – it’s been muggy, humid and disgusting outside. And nothing says summer quite like a pool party complete with BBQ! My friend, Adam, decided to do just that for his birthday on Saturday and we had such a great time. As always, hanging out with the AgencyNet gang was super fun and I got to break out my new bikini from Forever 21! Unfortunately, I got a little heavy handed with the booze and ended up having a classy moment at a Wafflehouse later that evening. Oops! I hope that as the summer continues we can keep rocking the pool parties – I should test out our community’s pool area, maybe I’ll throw one of my own! 😉
Sunday brought a serious case of the hangover, which was only made worse by its pairing with school work as well as work-work. Bleh. Fortunately, I was rewarded later that night with the True Blood premiere! We went to James’ home and watched it together with a group of friends. To all fellow fans, how great was that opener? I can’t wait to see how this season plays out – it looks like it is going to be amazing! Augi has already promised to set up HBO at home so we don’t miss a moment! I plan on picking up a Merlotte’s shirt to wear to Comic-Con next month – gotta show my support, afterall 😉
