5 Fandom Friday: One Fandom Item Styled Five Different Ways

This Fandom Friday really spoke to my heart being fashion related! As you all know, I love putting together stylish geeky outfits, so I had fun with this one. It was tough to choose just one fandom item, but I finally settled on the fandom crop top. Sure, you may think that a 30-something-year-old should not be rocking crop tops, but I beg to differ. I think there are many ways to style a crop top in age-appropriate ways and I hope this post illustrates that.

There are a lot of great options out there for geeky crop tops and being convention season, these ideas may spark a little outfit inspiration (or two). Although I have many a crop top, I decided to go with my Marvel one because it’s so bright and fun.

Look 1: Beach Day
This is the most obvious look. Pair the crop with a pair of brightly colored shorts and a fun fedora and you are ready to catch some rays on the sand with friends, roller skate down Venice Beach or pick up an ice cold milkshake on a sweltering Miami day. Make sure your bikini is peeking out from underneath!

Look 2: Girls Nite
This is how a crop can be made age appropriate. Pair it with a high waisted mini skirt and voila! No unnecessary skin showing and it makes an easy and flattering silhouette. Pair this look with a wide brimmed felt hat and some booties and you will definitely be ready to knock back a few craft cocktails in the newest hipster bar with your favorite babes.

Look 3: Doing Errands
Who doesn’t want to feel comfortable but still look great while running errands all over your town? Just pair this sweet crop with a pair of dark and subtle, yet graphic, denim and a cardi. Don’t forget a statement necklace to pull it all together and voila! You will look chic on your next emergency tampon run!

Look 4: Lunch Date
This look is definitely my recent favorite. It is so EASY and dare I say, breezy. Slap on the crop top over your most comfortable maxi dress and slip on a pair of quality flip flops to look super swank while feeling like you are wearing  your pajamas in public. Pair it with your favorite quirky eyeglasses to really complete the chic geekiness. I can’t tell you how many weekends I have rocked this look to a million compliments!

Look 5: Date Nite
You may wonder how you can make a fandom crop top work for a night on the town with your significant other, but I am here to prove it can happen! Find a fancy skirt in your closet (although I used a satin knee length number, you could also opt for a fun tulle skirt) that demands attention in a solid color. Preferably this skirt should be on the higher waist side as to not show an excessive amount of skin with the crop. Pair it with your most killer heels (I love my sparkly peep toes!), a fun clutch and your brightest red lipstick and you are sure to dress to impress while still proclaiming your geekiness!
