Friday night I braved the Super Bowl traffic and headed up north to Broward to celebrate our good friend, Omar’s birthday. Although the weather was most definitely not cooperating, we managed to have a great time at the always awesome Tarpon Bend. We picked up some yummy burgers and calamari and then danced like fools to their house band (which I always love), Fuse. Definitely going to hire them in the future. Happy birthday, OG!
This weekend was all about birthdays! On Friday night, we celebrated my friend (& co-worker’s) birthday by getting together for happy hour at Gatsby’s. I got to spend time with people I hadn’t seen in a long time and missed a whole lot and also got to drink $2 Blue Moon’s. I was a happy camper! We then moved the party to the Kendall Ale House for a couple more beers and good times. I’m pretty sure the party kept moving along, but we got off the train after the Ale House (ah, being old).
I am not a homebody. I love to be out doing cool stuff with cool people. I, however, do not like spending vast amounts of money when doing so. This is why I was super happy when I found out that there was going to be a tweet up at Miami Beach’s 8 oz. Burger Bar with an open bar, free appetizers and a Rock Band competition. How fun is that? I can vouch it was tons. The place was slammed, but the bartenders were really great about handing out the free drinks and the appetizers were being passed around like hot cakes. Plus, it helps that I was with great company. I hope they do more of these – totally loved the idea and the freebies! We finished the night at a friends’ house where we caught up with each other, drank and had a delicious dinner. Perfect start to the weekend!
On Saturday, the hubs and I went out to Splitsville to celebrate our best friend’s birthday with a little midnight bowling action! We got her a great present, if I may say so myself and had a good time catching up with our closest friends. Unfortunately, now that I am dieting and training, it doesn’t take a lot for me to get very drunk very fast. I learned that on Saturday night in the worst possible way. However, I found that drunken moment most appropriate to discuss the Billy Corgan/Jessica Simpson love affair. Very passionately, it seems. Thank goodness my friends are not cruel enough to record conversations. Definitely a face palm moment.
Now that I have fully recovered and have decided to swear off of shots for a very long time, I hope you all have a great week! Saturday finally brought Augi’s 28th birthday! We worked hard to get the kickball theme right and were kind of worried when we saw the ominous clouds floating round as we were preparing to head to the park. In typical Miami fashion, not only did it rain but it was torrential. Thankfully, it decided to stop for the 4 hours or so that we had the field reserved – perfect! We were amazed at the number of people that showed up and how much fun we had. Our custom team shirts looked great and were a complete hit with all our friends. We had quite a close game, but the Black Robocops took it 4 to 2 in the 9th inning! I don’t know about everyone else, but I noticed how horribly out of shape I was afterwards and am definitely paying for all my antics in the form of some nasty soreness. Maybe we should play more often? 😉
