What I Wore: Mix & Match

A lot of people are scared of combining colors, but really there is no reason for it. I always get people telling me, “only you could pull something like that off,” but it’s absolutely not true! Anyone can pull off mixing and matching of colors (and patterns), you just have to do so with a discerning eye. It’s not about throwing every item in your closet on yourself at the same time (although that seemed to be a hit in the 80’s), but rather about putting together complimentary colors the right way. Case in point: two neons do not make a right. Although I am pairing two bright colors together with my tee and skirt, notice that the tee is taking center stage, being the brightest and most neon (even though it’s hard to see in some of the photos). My skirt is also vibrant, sure, but it is way more muted.

What I Wore: Social Saturday

For being someone that adores color and brights, I have been deathly afraid to give color blocking a whirl. Maybe I fear that I will just take the idea and run with it. After all, once you give me access to color, I tend to turn into a crazy 6-year-old child. But, I had a lot of fun putting this one together. So much fun, in fact, that I may just try it again. 😉

I am in love with this airy blouse from Conversation Pieces. It is the perfect spring item to pair with a great pair of colored skinnies, which I did for a very busy Saturday with friends. I had to work in the morning, quickly followed by a girls lunch at Scotty’s Landing and then an amazing Panther game with more friends. I had to make sure I looked comfortable and cute, and this definitely fit the bill.

I added this fun nautical jacket for the hockey game, and I am so glad I did! It was absolutely freezing for this Miami girl, but the team’s amazing shots and nerve-wracking moments proved to provide a little warmth here and there.

Wrist Candy

As you all know, on the top of my accessory wish list is plenty and plenty of beautiful wrist candy! I’m loving all the gorgeously piled bracelets I’m seeing on my favorite fashion bloggers and random Pinterest photos. They are just so playful and youthful. I think that if I had an arm full of color and whimsy, it would be impossible to not look down and smile multiple times during the day, am I right? Here are some of my favorites that I have stumbled on while surfing the Internets.

1. ASOS coloured cube bracelet – $8.06
2. ASOS retro skulls friendship bracelet – $21.49
3. Forever 21 lacquered wing bracelet – $6.80
4. ASOS pastel bunting bracelet – $14.32
5. Bauble Bar octagon initial bracelet – $50
6. Nasty Gal Leo zodiac bracelet – $48

Also, my birthday is only in 3 months, you know. 😉

1. Fuji Instax Camera

I’m usually not into loving fad-ish cameras, but this one really got suckered me good. Although Polaroid is back with a vengeance, I can’t help but love the Fuji Instax. It’s adorably cute and helps you capture the moment instantly in fun bite-sized photos that you can put anywhere. My favorite uses of these pictures? These adorable wall collages. Hello, lover! 😉

2010 Motto

dresslikeacupcakeIf you are my friend on Facebook, you’ll remember that I posted a picture of this adorable print and stated that it was going to be one of my motto’s for 2010 and although silly, it is no lie that a girl’s attitude will sky rocket if she thinks she looks good. And for me, looking good means bright colors, ruffles and glitter. That’s just the way it is. And here are some sweet and affordable pieces that would definitely fit my new motto:
