I’m me + that’s OK.

Lets be real. Even though I play my “highlight reel” on all social medias just like every other blogger, or person honestly, on the Internets, I have my bad days. I have been honest about my therapy journey this year, and how I’ve been working on me. Sometimes people think “working on yourself” looks pretty 24/7, but it’s not. A lot of it is ugly stuff, and a lot of it will cause fractions in your day to day as you attempt to find the balance and equilibrium to a better you and, in turn, a better life.

Although at times this journey has felt very isolating, I feel a new me brewing. I like to think that it’s perfect timing with 40 looming so close. I am learning new skills at this age, and it’s kind of refreshing – do you know the power of boundaries??? Because I apparently didn’t, and it’s been revolutionary for my anxiety and stress levels. But I digress…even with the help of a therapist (ps; I’ve been using TalkSpace), I still can always use an extra nudge in the right directions on certain days. That’s why I wanted to share some really inspirational Instagram accounts that I have found recently that have really spoken to me on a very deep level. I’ve found them to be just as healing as a therapy session at times, and I wanted to possibly help you all if you too are going “through it,” as the kids say.

I’m a firm believer that social media can be powerful and used for good. And I love that these accounts are doing just that.

Ambivalentlyyours

Wow is this account RAW. I can’t even remember how I stumbled on it, maybe it was on my explore page (which if you haven’t really used, you should. I’ve found some stellar stuff), but when I did, I couldn’t stop saving nearly every post. It was almost like someone was reading every single thought that I have kept in my heart + soul, too afraid to unleash onto the world. If you are anxious and sensitive, this is the place for you where you can feel understood for feeling all the feels.

Best Shops for Disney Outfits

Now that we are headed to Disney more often and getting immersed in that culture (Luna is full blown obsessed with Mickey), it’s been really fun trying to find unique and awesome outfits for our trips to the parks. I get asked a lot where I have found some of the things either Luna or myself wear, so I figured I would compile a little list of my favorite stores with you all!

CakeWorthy

I think this is the first shop I stumbled upon that sold “hip” Disney wears. I fell in love with their very 90’s grunge flannels with famous Disney character quotes on the back, and have since seen the design being ripped off in larger chains (*cough* Hot Topic *cough*).

LostBros

Lost Bros Trading Co

I didn’t discover this shop until the week before we left for Disney, and I was so bummed. Their styles are so incredible! I also smiled a whole lot whenever I saw one of them walk by me at the Magic Kingdom – and boy were there a lot! My personal favorite is the Ariel tee because it includes two of my favorite things: The Little Mermaid and champagne!

Favorite Instagrams

My absolute favorite social media outlet is Instagram. I’ve always been the girl taking one too many pictures of everything, so this app was like a dream come true. Editing them, filtering them and sharing them with the world is just too much fun. Add the fact that you can find other users that share similar interests or are at the same events via hashtags, and I was sold. I love finding out about new IG accounts, so I figured I’d share some of my fav’s with all of you in case you are looking for some new users to follow or just some inspiration! And don’t forget to follow me on IG!

pineapplesandcoffeecups; I would love to live in Adriana’s technicolor fun world. All her photos evoke bright sunshine, yummy desserts and cotton candy living. Anytime I’m feeling down in the dumps, I check out her feed. It’s so fun (& at times hilarious) that it’s impossible to stay bummed.
thepinkdiary; Absolutely gorgeous flat lays of both outfits, beauty products and just pretty things. I love her pastel palette and impeccable taste.
galadarling; One of my favorite bloggers, as well as Instagrammers. Gala believes in living a sparkly life full of fun and positivity and her photos reflect just that. Definitely another mood lifter.

Luna’s Instagram

Screen Shot 2015-06-17 at 7.04.03 PM

For those of you that want even more baby style on the Luna front, you can now get your fill over on Instagram. I’ve opened an account to showcase all the cute outfits I’ve bought and put together for the little one and I hope to be updating weekly with new baby #ootd & lifestyle material.

With only 2 posts, the account has already been featured on Evermore Boutique‘s IG. Boy, I think Luna is going to be better at this fashion blogging thing than her mama. 😉

Add the account here.

Nerdvember: Outfit #1

Have you guys heard of Nerdvember?

It’s an Instagram contest being held by the lovely ladies of Set to Stunning. They are challenging all us lady geeks to sport our best geeky outfits for a chance to win some pretty fun prizes. I put together my first outfit this week for the challenge, and hope to participate more over the span of the month. Not only is it fun to put together outfits, but searching the hashtag has made me stumble on some new geeky insta-friends! Win/win!

Details of my first Nerdvember outfit;

Tank; c/o Jordan Dene
Pants; Stitchfix {similar}
Jacket; Forever 21 {similar}
Kitty flats; Jane.com {similar}
{with a special appearance by Sting because swords}

I’ve been having days where I flip flop from extreme happiness and clarity to debilitating anxiety and dark thoughts. When I want to exude a certain energy, I usually try to dress the part. Sure, it may seem silly, but I believe in the power of fashion and appearance. If you look good and, in this case, are sporting a powerfully positive message by one of the most amazing men in science, how can you feel bad? Granted, I paired this outfit with a 2-4-1 drink special at Chili’s, but I’m still going with the outfit, ok?

Have you been participating? If so, please share your adorkable outfits in the comments!
