What I Wore: Dotted Denim

Ever since my Forever 21 fiasco that caused my self-imposed strike (proud I haven’t stepped foot in a F21 since the incident), I have been lusting over a good pair of dotted denim. I thought I had found the perfect pair at F21, but ha-ha, jokes on them! I found a fantastic pair at my favorite Marshall’s location that look even better! It’s always a tough job to pair patterned pants, but I like how these make it pretty easy with their dark denim wash and white dots. Have I mentioned how much I love all these fun trends? I feel like fashion has been taking a turn for the more whimsical and youthful and I couldn’t be anymore excited. I feel like I’m playing dress up every time I walk into my closet!

What I Wore: Birthday Date

Even though it seems like the hubs and I would spend a ridiculous amount of time together, we don’t really get a chance to be alone and romantic too much. Life tends to get in the way, like it often does, and before we know it, we have not gone on a date in months. I think dates are a super important part of relationships that help keep them fresh and fun, so I was very happy when the hubs suggested we have a romantic dinner date for my birthday this past weekend.

We ate at Grazianos, a really delicious Argentinian steak house (we are carnivores), where we had good wine, good conversation, and snuck in some sweet hand holding and flirtatious looks. It was followed by seeing Wes Anderson’s latest flick, Moonrise Kingdom, which was hands down adorable and the perfect choice for the evening (he had deemed Batman wasn’t romantic enough). And it was lovely. I couldn’t imagine starting my birthday weekend off better.

I am such a lucky girl.

What I Wore | Bridesmaid Brunch

I am extremely happy for two of my closest friends, Elissa & James, and their recent engagement! Even more so after I was told I was to be the maid of honor! The rest of the bridal party (also some of my closest friends), decided to take the bride-to-be out for a bridesmaid brunch to celebrate the engagement at the Pelican Grand in Ft. Lauderdale. We had a fabulous time – maybe a little too fabulous – I ended up sick as a dog the following week. But I have to say, spending time with these girls is always worth it, no matter the outcome!

Maxi Dress; Marshall’s
Sandals; GAP outlet
Flower earrings; Forever 21
Gold flower necklace; Off 5th
Fish necklace; Forever 21
Cuff; gifted

I think this outfit fit the vibe perfectly. I wanted something feminine and romantic since we were celebrating love and marriage, but also needed something airy as we were going to be sitting outside by the beach. Everyone knows this season is all about the maxi dress, but it can be pretty difficult to find the right one. I found my perfect maxi while perusing the clearance section at Marshall’s (along with 2 other beauties, but I digress)! I am in love with its little ruffles and tiers. Everything about it screams girly. I paired it with some gold accessories and was on my way!

Of course, I had to add the sparkly goodness! Congrats, my love 🙂

{30 Days of Fashion}: Day 18

January 18th, 2011:

Top; Cynthia Rowley found at Marshall’s
Skinny jeans; Target
Brown heels; DSW
Earrings; gifted

I think I grow a new found appreciation for Marshall’s every time I visit. They are really getting some top quality stuff and in turn, so is my closet. I nearly jumped out of my skin when I saw this gorgeous nude tunic top from Cynthia Rowley hanging off their racks. I can’t tell you how comfortable and cool it is, especially when paired with some skinny jeans like I did yesterday! It’s the perfect casual office outfit, and it boosted my confidence when I had to get my blood work done. Thanks to this cute top (and a butterfly needle), my experience went way smoother than I thought!

Unfortunately, today was another rough day for me emotionally in the office, and I succumbed to yet another bout of retail therapy. I’m not proud of my lack of self control, but I am of my amazing purchases! I scored both a rockin’ orange dress from Max Studio and a beautiful bright blue Cynthia Rowley number for less than $50! I have a couple of events coming up, so I can’t wait to put them to good use 🙂
