Chalkola

Coming at you from our corner of quarantine to share some awesome products that may help your little ones stay occupied despite so much time indoors. Luna has recently gotten into drawing (she especially loves pretending she is writing now that she can write letters), and this Chalkola mini chalkboard and set of THIRTY different colored chalk markers is just perfect for her. She had a blast drawing this scene from Moana (that’s what she told me anyways), and I can’t wait to play with them either. I think they are going to make a great addition to drive through birthdays and celebrations. Plus, I always like to have some inspirational quotes around our home, so this will be a fun and unique way to do so, while stretching my artistic muscles too!

Not only am I sharing this awesome new find with you all, but I also come bearing a coupon code. If you use MELISSALS10 you will receive 10% off your entire order! Feel free to have fun exploring all the products here (there are so many great options) and let me know if you were able to pick something out, and if so, how you are creating during this tough time!

Sticker Swap + Coupon Code

IMG_5610

I am no stranger to sticker subscriptions and agenda madness. You see, if I didn’t have an agenda, I wouldn’t remember anything and would basically be lost in this world. And agendas aren’t agendas without sticker flair, amirite? That’s why I was so stoked to check out Sticker Swap. You get new stickers every month, and they feature such a wide variety made by independent artists that they are sure to cater to everyone’s interests.

I mean, what were the chances that I would get a cafetera in my bundle? For those of you not in the know, this little contraption on the bottom right of the photo above is what makes the wondrous black fuel that most Miami mamas live off of: Cuban coffee (i.e., “cafecito”). I need to find the perfect spot for this sticker because it is literally too good to be true.

Welcome to Wonderland: Decal How To

I grew up very much a Disney kid. When asked if I wanted the traditional “quinces” party, I asked if I could take a couple of friends to Disney for the weekend instead. I watched Aladdin and The Lion King about 5 times each in the theater. I dreamed of being Ariel…well, I still dream of being Ariel. You get the point.

Somewhere along the way, I no longer followed Disney and stopped visiting the parks. I think it mainly had to do with Islands of Adventure opening at Universal and being drawn to a more “adult driven” park. The second Wizarding World opened, it was all over. I never went to Disney. But, when I had little Luna, things changed. I remembered my happy Disney memories from when I was a kid and I wanted her to have the same. Say what you will about princess culture, because all it taught me was to never stop dreaming and to never give up on those dreams.

That’s why I’m so happy that little Luna is a brand representative for Welcome to Wonderland! It’s a great small local shop that caters to all us Disney loving mamas and kids. One of my favorite products are their decals. I like them because you feel like you are in part a maker yourself. Sure, the shop made the decal, but there is still an element of DIY there, and that makes my little heart happy. I thought I would share with you all how easy it is to use these decals to make your own Disney-ready outfits!

I started with some easy to find plain white Gerber tees on Amazon. I ironed them first so that they were nice and flat: perfect to apply the decal. When they were cool to the touch, I put the decal’s sticky side down on the tee and the parchment paper it came in over the decal.

Life with Luna: Little Sleepy Head

img_2433

One of the scariest things when you are a mom is that something could happen to your baby. I remember not being able to sleep anywhere but right next to Luna in her Rock ‘n Play – and half of the time, I didn’t sleep – I just watched her to make sure she was breathing. I’d like to say a lot has changed since then, but I often find myself staring at the baby monitor like a crazy person to make sure her chest is rising and falling. Yes, I am an anxious mom, but I am so happy we have moved on to the phase in Luna’s life where she can sleep on a pillow and I do not fear for her life.

This cued for me that I had to begin the “cry it out” method. I know this isn’t for everyone, and I thought it wouldn’t be for me either (despite recommending it at my day job constantly to parents). One day, I was so sleep deprived and aggro, that I decided it was time. Luna cried for 23 minutes before she laid down and fell asleep. The following night, it was 11 minutes. The next, 8. The one after? ZERO. And what’s the best part? She has slept the entire night ever since. My husband and I feel refreshed and are starting to feel even normal at times.

What has helped little Luna feel even more comfy in her crib are her Little Sleepy Head pillows. They are made in the USA by a small family company and are hypoallergenic, which is great news for all those with sensitive skin (basically all babies)! I also love that the company donates to The Michael Hoefflin Foundation for Children’s Cancer with a percentage of each sale, and provides pillow donations as well for each child they help.

I have noticed that she loves to snuggle it and falls asleep quicker. She also really digs the dinosaur design we chose for her – you can see her pointing them out in the photo above! So if you are having some difficulties getting your little babes to sleep at night, or are going to introduce a sleep-related transition (whether it be cry it out or the move to a toddler bed), give one of these a try! Little Lu and I will be cheering all you mama’s + dada’s on with the help of a promo code – MYDEAL15. This will allow you to get 15% off of the whole collection. That includes both sized pillows and all of the pillowcases!

And in case no one has told you recently, you are doing a GREAT job! 😉

Disclosure; Little Sleep Head gave me products in exchange for this blog post and review. However, all opinions are my own.

My First Rocksbox

Screen Shot 2015-04-28 at 4.47.54 PM

This month was the month of subscription boxes! Earlier, I received my first Rocksbox. What’s that? For $19 a month, you get a box containing 3 pieces of beautiful designer jewelry worth up to $200! Feel free to wear it as much or as little as you want, and when you have had your fill, go ahead and send it back. As soon as you do, you get another fun box full of new sparkly goodies. Plus, if you fall in love with any of the pieces and just have to have it, there is always the option to buy! For an accessory addict like myself, it was a no brainer.
