SDCC Parties

Now, I may be a bitter Betty sitting at home while the rest of you live it up at San Diego Comic Con next weekend, but I have to remind myself it’s for the absolute best reason: my daughter baking inside of me! For those of you that are joining the fun and mayhem, I have some great parties for you to check out by some of my fellow geeky bloggers, friends and cohorts that you won’t want to miss!

1. Geeks Go Glam Party (THURS @ 8pm); This is the best kick off party for those geek girls that want to show their fancy side. I personally love putting together outfits for SDCC when I’m attending, and this is the perfect opportunity to throw in an uber fancy one into your suitcase! Think high heels and bow ties mixed in with your favorite fandoms! Hosted by two of my favorite bloggers that I have been lucky enough to become friends with, The Nerdy Girlie and Being Geek Chic, you know you’ll be in good hands. Plus, with the addition of a performance from one of the members of the UK band, The Filthy Souls, there is absolutely no way you won’t have a good time. Grab your tickets here before they’re gone (no badge required)!

2. Fashionably Nerdy SDCC Cocktail Hour & Mixer (FRI @ 5pm); Now this is a definitely “do not miss” kind of party. Hosted by my fantastic co-workers over at Fashionably Nerdy in order to socialize with our team and the really amazing geeky designers you love! Swag bags will be given out to the first people to arrive and there will be special door prizes, raffles and a prize for the best ~Geek Chic~ dressed! Sponsors range from Her Universe to Gold Bubble Clothing, so you are going to want to get your hands on those goodies! No official RSVP or badge needed – just head over to the Grand Hyatt Grand Lobby Bar with your best party face on (and tell them Melificent sent ya!).

3. SherlockeDCC 2015 (FRI @ 7pm); Done with the Fashionably Nerdy party after snagging some amazing swag? Great! Head on over to the San Diego Public Library for the 3rd annual SherlockeDCC party! I can attest to the pure awesome of this party since I attended last year. We enjoyed amazing themed drinks, a photobooth and incredible views of San Diego from the 9th floor balcony. Again, this is being thrown by The Nerdy Girlie, Being Geek Chic & The Baker Street Babes so I figure this year can only be bigger and better. No badge needed, just pick up your ticket here.

5 Fandom Friday: 5 Nerdiest Things You’ve Ever Done

fandom.5.friday

Brought to you by; The Nerdy Girlie & Super Space Chick

I have to admit that this was a really fun prompt. I am pretty damn nerdy and ridiculous when it comes to my fandoms, so I’ve done quite a few things that I deem up there when it comes to superlatives. It was actually difficult to only whittle it down to 5. I will never lie about one thing: I fangirl. And I fangirl hard.

1; First fans to enter The Wizarding World of Harry Potter

When I found out that there was going to be a theme park based on Harry Potter, and it was going to basically be in my backyard, I had to be there. I didn’t care that opening day was in June, which meant terrible heat and humidity. I didn’t care that there would be throngs of people to fight to get in. I didn’t care that we had to wake up at 4am. We somehow (I still think someone slipped us some Felix Felicis) ended up being the first 50 people in the park right behind the cast. It was amazing – we were on the Today Show and interviewed by NBC6. Daniel Radcliffe even walked right past us like he was an every day normal muggle. It was one of my most favorite days.

5 Fandom Friday: Five Times I Totally Fangirled

I’ve been lucky enough to have a lot fangirl encounters over the past few years, so it was honestly tough to pick just 5 instances. Pro tip: if you want to increase your fangirl moments, just attend San Diego Comic Con. You are sure to make memories for a lifetime.

1. Meeting Gavin Rossdale for the first time.

I honestly can’t believe I’m allowing this terrible picture of me to circulate but I had to use a photo from the actual moment that this happened because it was magical. I’m a huge BUSH fan and have been since I was a teenager in the 90’s. I was pretty sure I was going to marry Gavin Rossdale and went through a brief period of hating Gwen Stefani for taking my place (I have since moved on). Naturally, I would tweet at him once he discovered social media and would squee with delight when he would tweet at me back, but nothing compared to actually meeting him after a show in Orlando. He actually recognized me from all the photos I had been posting on to Twitter (these were the pre-Instagram days) and remembered my name (?!?!) – it was so surreal. He was such a sweetheart and it really was a shame that it rained on us for hours making my styled hair and flawless makeup go to shit for this amazing photo. Despite how awful I may look (& how angry G seems to look), it never fails to make me smile because I remember walking away and actually jumping up and down like a little girl and not being able to wipe that stupid smile off my face for DAYS.

SDCC 2014 Photo Diary

Let’s face it. San Diego Comic Con is the most epic time of year. In fact, I may even refer to it as my favorite holiday (who needs Christmas?). For these reasons, I find it hard putting together a highlights post with just words because it may end up looking a little something like this: aldksfnboierjaqeorwanv!!!!!!a;odifja?!?! And who really wants to read an entire post of that nonsense? So I figured a photo diary would be the way to go.

However, before I get to the photos, I want to thank everyone that made my 5th trip to Comic Con such a memorable one. I can’t wait to continue living the convention life and sharing it with all of you. Next up? I’ve got my sights on you, New York Comic Con!

Geek Out: Time Lord Love

Yes, I am back from San Diego Comic Con. Yes, it was magical. Yes, I am exhausted. Yes, it was worth every sleepless night. I have so much to share with you all, but I’ll start with one of my favorite outfits from the Con. Sure, it was simple, but I love that I was able to customize the shirt myself. That means I did not run into anyone else with the same tee (happens on the regular), and got a ton of compliments (even on the plane ride there)!

I always say that The Doctor is every woman’s fantasy: an attractive man that promises to take you away from your reality and on amazing adventures that make you reach your max potential. I mean, who wouldn‘t want that? And thus, I like Time Lords (sorry husband).

Tee; c/o HiCustom
Shorts; Old Navy
Sneaks; Forever 21
Flower Crown; Headbuds
Necklace; Snake & Fawn
Nail Art; I Heart Nail Art

Can we talk about this view for a second?
