Buzz Bags Review: Sherlocked

IMG_0834

Buzz Bags strikes again with another killer bag from one of my favorite fandoms, BBC’s Sherlock. It comes at a very apropos time as well. For those of you not in the crazed Sherlock fandom know, like myself, the very popular Sherlocked Convention that is held in the UK yearly is making the move to the US. Unfortunately, that’s still too far for me as I have my West Coast visit already planned for next year being SDCC 2017, but it’s pretty excellent for all the US fans.

But I digress! This bag was full of some fun accessories, and possibly my most favorite ever. Living in Miami, going to the beach is {nearly} everyone’s favorite past time. That means anklets are a style staple, and I actually got my first fandom anklet ever! If you follow me on Instagram, then you already saw me post a story squealing over it. I wish I could have added a picture of me wearing it, but it broke after getting stuck in my pants. Sad face! Buzz Bags are so awesome that they are going to send me a replacement anklet though, so hurrah! Crisis averted.

Aside from the adorable Sherlock-themed anklet, we got 2 beautiful necklaces: one sporting the fan favorite line “I am Sherlocked” and the other a key to Apartment 221b. The package was rounded out by two quotable pins and a magnet, and some amazing nail decals that I can’t wait to sport once I find the time to paint my nails again! Overall, it was an awesome little package as per usual. If you are interested in grabbing one of your own, head on over to their site. They have some pretty amazing bags coming up for the rest of the year as well!

Nerdy Must Haves

Butts tee; If you are looking to casual cosplay as Tina Belcher, look no farther. This perfect ringer tee with “BUTTS” emblazoned across the chest will give you all the sensual vibes you need to portray everyone’s favorite awkward teen. Or if you are just feeling sassy, you can show your love for nice behinds while getting drinks with friends on a Sunday Funday.

Sherlock holy candle; This had me in stitches. If you grew up in a Latin household, chances are there was a little bit of superstition and a little bit of witchcraft in your life. I am well acquainted with these holy candles, and seeing them rocking Sherlock and John’s faces is just too much. I’d love to plop this bad boy on the table as part of my sacred space just as a reminder to not take life so seriously.

Darth Vader sleep mask; After frequent trips abroad and around the US a couple of years ago, I realized the importance of a sleep mask to shut the rest of the world out when you really, really need some shut eye. Now there are plenty of cute and stylish sleep masks, but none more demanding of attention and obedience than this Darth Vader one!

Vintage Disney brooch; Now that I have a little one, our trips to Disney will be way more frequent (goodbye Universal annual pass). This means all sorts of new fandom accessories and clothing (for the two of us)! One of my favorite new Etsy stores is Match Accessories and I am absolutely loving their line of vintage brooches. This beautiful wooden vintage “D” would make the perfect touch for your Dapper Day outfit or just pinned to a top with a Peter Pan collar.

Nerdy Must Haves

1. Sherlock Crop; While we mourn the long and torturous wait that is the newest season of BBC’s Sherlock, we can at least look cute. This frilly cameo-style design makes it perfect to pair with high waisted jeans and a pair of Chucks for an understated fangirl look. For those of us rocking some new mom pooches, you can also layer it on top of a long tank or maxi dress.

2. Chibi Moon Skater Skirt; Something that will never go out of style in my mind is the high waisted skater skirt. I’m obsessed with them. In fact, it’s my go to when I’m putting together a geek chic outfit (the ones in my closet are *almost* fitting again), so if they already have a fun fangirl print, it is a no brainer when deciding whether it should be mine or not. This one is celebrating my newest favorite scout, Chibi Moon. Move over, Jupiter. Ever since becoming a mom, I love the sassy and adventurous spirit of Chibiusa!

3. I’m Your Mother Tee; Sure, everyone has seen plenty of merchandise, jokes and hashtags for “I am your father,” but how about giving the moms the love??? This tee does exactly that, and I am loving it! As both a Star Wars fan and new mommy, I couldn’t think of a better style staple to cover in spit up.

4. Star Wars Earrings Set; More Star Wars, I know. I promise I’ll stop…someday. But seriously, this set of little Star Wars themed stud earrings are too much! I think they are a little on the steep side coming in at almost $20, but I have to admit they are all sorts of adorbs and a subtle way to rock your love of the force on an every day basis.

Fandom Friday: Crossovers That Would Cause My Heart to Explode

Fandom Friday

1. Doctor Who/Sherlock; I’m sure this comes as no surprise to all my fellow BBC fangirls. This is the crossover that we have always hoped would happen, but have succumbed to just reading plenty of fan fiction. Have you guys seen this excellent mash up? It will only make your heart ache more for this project to actually happen.

2. Sailor Moon/Adventure Time; I am pretty quick to state that I think anything should be crossed with Adventure Time – it just lends itself to make any world a little more fun and bright. However, the image I used above definitely sparked an intense desire for it to happen with Sailor Moon. The anime can be pretty silly at first, but then progresses to some heavy themes. Think how adorable it would be a little more light hearted??? And with Jupiter as Marceline, what! Need this now.

Geek Girl Brunch Miami: Sherlocked

DSCF3684

Last month, Geek Girl Brunch Miami hosted its second brunch and the ladies chose Sherlock as the theme. The Local House in Miami Beach was nice enough to host our event, and we even had a special surprise for all our brunchettes: free mini-manicures with Sherlock-themed nail art! Overall, it was a really great morning and I absolutely love how much our girls get along! If you are in the area, definitely sign up – we have so many fun events planned this summer and we’d love to have you join!
