Holiday Bucket List #2: Wynwood Adventure

Happy New Year everyone!

I hope you guys are enjoying what 2019 has brought you so far. I know I have and I’ll be posting about it on a later date because I want to make sure I share with you all the fun we had attempting to complete our holiday bucket list challenge.

Sure, Wynwood is in our backyard and it’s not the first or last time we have visited, but going with a little one kind of changes the experience. We went to see some new wall art and took some fun pictures in front of some, and then had dinner at our favorite taco spot, The Taco Stand, followed by some fun at the Wynwood Walls.

What I Wore: I Know My Value

IMG_5460

Can someone start playing “The Final Countdown?” Because that’s where I’m at right now! In these pictures, I was a pleasantly plump, but happy 35 weeks. Things are starting to ache and bother, but I’m still pretty petite which allows me a little more energy and mobility than most. The hubs and I had one of our usual foodie day dates in Wynwood, and we were able to visit some pretty amazing little markets, such as Flavorish & Marky’s, and had lunch at Ms. Cheezious (do you know they now offer their sandwiches on gluten free bread???). We picked up so many delicious little treats and fantasized about having picnics with our little one in the future.

As usual, Jordan Dene’s tanks keep me super comfy. I love that I don’t have to rely on maternity and can still let my geek flag fly as often as possible. I’m loving her new line of tees – this one being a quote from Agent Carter. Make sure to check out her site – it is chock full of goodies for yourself AND the geeky little ones in your life!

The Bodhi Tree House Grand Opening – Miami

IMG_4872

A couple weeks ago I was fortunate enough to attend the grand opening of a new holistic store in Wynwood, The Bodhi Tree House. It was tucked away in some warehouse space, but I was absolutely blown away when I walked inside. It really looked like you were in a treehouse. It was like something out of a Wes Anderson movie mixed with a little bit of magic. It’s impossible not to feel serene and at peace while in the tree house, and everything they offer is so up my alley.

Crystals and mysticism have become a big part of my life for the past year, and I loved being in such a spiritual healing environment. Naturally, a packed grand opening party doesn’t lend itself to too much calm, but I can’t wait to visit soon and actually shop and look into some of their classes. I also loved that they had a little cafe in the back of the store offering healthy treats. I was able to enjoy crystal-infused water for the first time, which was pretty neat.

Boohoo #TBT Style Icon: Audrey Inspired

Everyone bases their style on someone, right? Sure, I love my geekery, but the basis for the way I style those geeky outfits, makeup, accessories and hair comes from the most perfect lady in the history of ladies: Audrey Hepburn. I like high waists, form flattering silhouettes and classics paired with tons of personality. I like high buns, cat eyed sunglasses and strong brows. But most importantly, I like the heart and soul behind the icon that was Audrey Hepburn, and hope I can portray even 1/4 of that with my own style and life.

That’s why when Boohoo asked me to recreate a style icon’s look using a dress from their immensely awesome dress line, I jumped at the chance. I think I chose the perfect dress that reflected what Audrey’s style would look like today, paired with a little Melificent on the side. The result? A whimsical shift dress paired with fun and kitschy accessories, and topped with Audrey’s iconic top knot (thanks Blo Coral Gables!). Plus, you know I had to throw a little geek in there – check out my denim jacket’s button details! 😉

What I Wore: Short Shorts

I used to be really concerned about dressing “my age.” Those days are over. I’m in my early 30’s and I plan on showing off what I have until I don’t have it anymore. I threw away all rules, and I’ve found it so liberating when it comes to fashion. Sure, I may have been tugging down on these short shorts as I walked around Wynwood, but I still consider it growth. This Cuban booty just can’t be contained in a pair of corduroy shorts and I won’t apologize for it peeking out multiple times this afternoon. You’re welcome.

ps; thanks to Megs over at The Nerdy Girlie for sparking my Wynwood photoshoot love again (although we did have to battle with a bunch of middle-aged yuppie tourists).
