Christmas Gift Donations

Credit: State Library of New South Wales Collection (Flickr)

For all of those that do not  know, I have a full-time job working with therapeutic foster children. These children either have a mental health diagnosis or are developmentally disabled. A lot of them have been abused, neglected or abandoned by their families and many have never received a gift, much less celebrated a holiday, in their lives.

We’d like to change the way they view the holidays by making sure their Christmas is a special one. I am asking my friends and family if they would like to participate in donating Christmas gifts to these very special children and I’d like to extend the opportunity to my readers as well.

If you are interested in donating a gift to a foster child, please comment to this post.
Thank you in advance!

Food Coma

Melificent is currently experiencing the usual post-Thanksgiving food coma (two Thanksgiving dinners can do that to you), so please forgive the lack of Lovable Friday. Doesn’t make it any less wonderful though – enjoy it with the company of your nearest and dearest!

Happy Hump Day: Chris Hemsworth

You may not know Chris Hemsworth’s name right now, but chances are you definitely will come next summer when Thor is released in theaters. Hemsworth will play the lead character, a powerful but arrogant warrior that is cast out of the fantastic realm of Asgard and sent to live amongst humans on Earth. He will be joined by Hollywood heavy-hitters Natalie Portman and Anthony Hopkins, which definitely has everyone listing it as one of the most anticipated movies of 2011. But, if you are good with faces, you may remember his small role in the beginning of Star Trek as Captain Kirk’s late father. He’s definitely come a long way from those Australian soaps and America is not complaining 😉

Squeeworthy: SP’s Tom Tom

All of you know I’m a very dedicated Smashing Pumpkins fan and have been since I was 14 years old. That said, I think this new lineup is absolutely wonderful. A lot of people had several comments when it came to the new members, mainly that this no longer made them the Pumpkins. Lies. If you see this band live, I promise you will think differently. They are a powerhouse. There is just something special when these 4 people come together – it is genuine, raw and emotional. Something that harkens back to a Pumpkins I haven’t seen or heard in quite a long time. And I think this new blood has really influenced Corgan’s songwriting (or maybe it’s his new love, Jessica Origliasso, of The Veronicas?) because every track off of Teargarden by Kaleidyscope has been off the charts amazing. It seems like each single is better than the last and their newest off of Volume II: The Solstice Bare, Tom Tom, is no exception.

But I’ll leave it up to all of you. Listen below to the full track (thanks Kerry!) and let me know what you think! I’m personally in love with the lyrics: You & I are bright//I don’t need anyone but you//our lives to me are art.

Oh, Billy Corgan, you will always own my heart.
