Life with Luna: 4 Weeks

4wks

Well, the honeymoon period is definitely over.
Little Luna has us working around the clock, and the days are no longer being defined as “easy.” She has some pretty killer gas, which can leave her screaming in hysterics, and we just recently had to administer a suppository after a full 24 hours of no poopy diapers. I can’t tell you how much fun that was (spoiler alert: we cried more than she did). She isn’t eating quite as well as she was the first 2 weeks with us, so now we usually have to wake her up for feedings and kind of force her at times to complete 2oz. This seems to be the way it goes with IUGR babies, so it will be an uphill battle with her in regards to gaining weight. Speaking of weight, she is now at 7lbs, 5oz!!! She’s finally about the size of an average newborn & is starting to grow out of some sleepers & rompers, which is really exciting!

Unfortunately, it looks like she is starting to develop a flat head, so I have to be cognizant and carry her more often (as well as increase tummy time sessions). Luna isn’t at the weight necessary for baby-wearing (8lbs), so this is making it really hard to balance my day-to-day to-do list and baby (I’m typing this post one-handed). I’m sure this will be a lesson in prioritization . 😉

Overall, I am so proud of our little nugget. She continues to surprise me every day (she has managed to turn over 6 times in a week during tummy time), and makes me want to be a better person. Sometimes it’s still hard for me to wrap my head around the fact that I am a mother, and I have a kid. When I really let that sink in, at times it can be a little nerve-wracking to be honest. But then I stare into her eyes and know we are going to be just fine.

Her Universe x Hot Topic | Star Wars Fashion Collection

collage

Her Universe has teamed up with Hot Topic to bring us geek girls the most gorgeous Star Wars fashion line ever. Sure to make a killing with the upcoming holiday season and the release of The Force Awakens, what I love most about this collection is that not only is it beautiful, but it is also affordable! This is such a golden era of geek girl fashion. I am floored on the regular with the quality and craftsmanship of fandom-related clothing and accessories. Geekery and fashion can finally go hand in hand (as it always should have), and I am loving it.

The collection is available at select Hot Topic stores and online now (& on sale)!
What’s your favorite piece?
I’m personally lusting hard over that Boba Fett bomber jacket (although the Darth Vader jacket is hot as hell too) and am adding it to my Christmas list stat!

Love & Madness: Star Wars Giveaway

landmgiveaway

I know I’m not the only one pumped for The Force Awakens – we are only about one month away until the newest Star Wars installment and you can feel the excitement anywhere you go. Stores like Kohl’s, Target and JCPenny are getting ready by ramping up their Star Wars merch, which makes it very hard to go…like, anywhere without spending a fortune. Jewelry line, Love and Madness, is no exception. They have teamed up with Star Wars to bring you all sorts of fun accessories, like necklaces, earrings, rings and hair clips!  Plus, they are officially licensed, so you know you are getting the real deal (they also have partnerships with Disney & The Walking Dead, to name a few). They would make the perfect flair for your premiere outfits – and I’m here to give one lucky reader a chance to win their own! Keep scrolling for more details!

What I Wore: TeeFury Bird Watcher

DSCF5674 copy

It’s always pretty incredible when you get to work with companies that you love and admire. As you all can remember, I worked with TeeFury during my pregnancy, and was flattered when they asked me to be a brand ambassador shortly after. I’m so excited to bring you fun posts inspired by their amazing designs! Aside from becoming part of the bird watcher’s club, we hit another milestone: Luna went on her first stroll around the neighborhood! Although she wasn’t the biggest fan (I think it was just really hot & she was too covered up), it was nice to get out of the house and breathe in some fresh (& humid) air. Mama is getting a little cabin fever!

I wish I could tell you that I’m already fitting into my pre-pregnancy clothes, but I’m still 25lbs away from that goal. Thankfully, some of my loose fitting options work and thanks in part to slapping on shapewear a couple of days after coming home from the hospital, I’m starting to get my waist back and a flatter tummy. Now, of course, I’m not saying that that is my main focus at the moment, but you can’t deny that battling the baby blues is easier when you feel good about yourself and the way you look. So for now, I am accentuating my shrinking waist with high-waisted options and fun tees. I’m not going to lie – getting these pictures was not an easy task and they are not my favorite shots, but all we could manage with a wailing baby. I’m sure I’ll learn to balance outfit posts and a baby, but for now, expect them to be a little far and few between.

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

1. Leslie Knope tee; I am such a huge fan of Parks and Recreation. I started watching when I became pregnant with Luna and just recently finished the series (if it weren’t for severe sleep deprivation, I would have sobbed like a baby). Since I was a late adopter, I don’t have any Parks and Rec merchandise yet, but I’d totally like to change that with this adorable tee from Kate Gabrielle. I honestly don’t understand any woman who doesn’t believe Leslie is their spirit animal, with her perfect party planning skills, compassion and forward thinking.

2. Marvel PJ’s; Target is really killing it with the geek wear lately. Between their collaboration with Star Wars, and now these incredible Marvel PJ’s, trips have become increasingly tempting for my wallet. There are a whole series of these sleep sets, but this one is my favorite. Unfortunately, it looks a little toasty for the South Florida weather, but I think it would be a perfect Christmas morning outfit!

3. Luna cat hair bow; You guys must be so sick of all my Sailor Moon paraphernalia, but I have to be honest: it’s never going to stop. I just can’t get enough of magical girl anything, so you are stuck staring at Luna cats and brightly colored compacts and wands forever. Sorry, not sorry. This bow is no exception. I love that it’s the perfect size to rock in front of a large top knot, which is my new favorite hairdo since becoming a mommy (I miss the days of hair straightening and curling irons).

4. Moon Prism Power Embroidery; Cross stitch is all the rage these days, and I love that it is slowly seeping into the geeky domain. Naturally, this one grabbed my attention right away. Not only is it a Sailor Moon reference, but it also reminds me of my little Luna girl, and I think it would look great in her room. Definitely look around her Etsy store if you want to find more fun and geeky designs, like this Star Wars one!
