Nerdy Must Haves

collage

Eat the Rude patch; this one is for all those Fannibals out there. One of the greatest lines ever, “eat the rude,” has become the take away quote for Hannibal fans. I think this patch would make the perfect addition to your fandom vest/jacket. If you are like me, and are putting together fandom-specific vests/jackets (currently working on my Sailor Moon one), then I suggest getting your hands on more affordable ones through AliExpress. Don’t say I never hooked you up, ladies! 😉

Potter Baby Bandana; something that really saved our lives and baby Luna’s style when she was suffering from severe acid reflux was baby bandanas. Rather than having her in an ugly and bulky bib when we would go out on the town, we would put one of these cute bandanas on and it would catch all the spit up, while not impeding on fashion (because duh, Luna has to keep up her reputation). This Potter ugly sweater one is so perfect for the upcoming holiday season. I’m not the only one swooning over it either, because it is currently sold out. Make sure to let PetiteGeekChic know you want more!

Kylo Ren print; all hail Nan Lawson! She has been one of my favorite artists for awhile now, and her work can be found scattered all over my house (most recently in Luna’s nursery), but she has been churning out some quality fandom prints lately. I featured her Kylo Ren, but she has a complimentary Rey (wouldn’t they look great facing each other???), an amazing Eleven, and this touching Snape print.

Stranger Things pin; if you are like me (and everyone who ingests pop culture like it’s air), you are a fan of Netflix’s Stranger Things. It’s everything that is good with the world, and makes my little 80’s heart happy. I am thrilled to see so many artists making swag to honor it, and I cannot wait to add this sweet Hopper pin to my collection.

Buzz Bags Review: Sherlocked

IMG_0834

Buzz Bags strikes again with another killer bag from one of my favorite fandoms, BBC’s Sherlock. It comes at a very apropos time as well. For those of you not in the crazed Sherlock fandom know, like myself, the very popular Sherlocked Convention that is held in the UK yearly is making the move to the US. Unfortunately, that’s still too far for me as I have my West Coast visit already planned for next year being SDCC 2017, but it’s pretty excellent for all the US fans.

But I digress! This bag was full of some fun accessories, and possibly my most favorite ever. Living in Miami, going to the beach is {nearly} everyone’s favorite past time. That means anklets are a style staple, and I actually got my first fandom anklet ever! If you follow me on Instagram, then you already saw me post a story squealing over it. I wish I could have added a picture of me wearing it, but it broke after getting stuck in my pants. Sad face! Buzz Bags are so awesome that they are going to send me a replacement anklet though, so hurrah! Crisis averted.

Aside from the adorable Sherlock-themed anklet, we got 2 beautiful necklaces: one sporting the fan favorite line “I am Sherlocked” and the other a key to Apartment 221b. The package was rounded out by two quotable pins and a magnet, and some amazing nail decals that I can’t wait to sport once I find the time to paint my nails again! Overall, it was an awesome little package as per usual. If you are interested in grabbing one of your own, head on over to their site. They have some pretty amazing bags coming up for the rest of the year as well!

Being Geek Chic: Vacation Outfits

No matter where you are going these last few days of summer for a little R&R, there are always ways to incorporate a little geekiness into your outfits. Now, I know I may be weird, but one of my favorite things to do is to plan vacation outfits. I don’t get to do much of that lately since vacationing isn’t as spontaneous or consistent as before, but when I do, it’s like a form of therapy. Plus, it makes it so much easier to get ready in the morning and get to having fun when you already know exactly what you are going to wear!

To show you how easy it is to incorporate your fandoms into your vacation wear, I put together 4 different looks for 4 different destinations.

beach

It’s been so hot down here in Miami lately, that a beach vacation would be at the bottom at my list at the moment. But for those of you up north dying for some sunshine and tropical cocktails (lets face it, I’m always down for those), just pair a geeky one piece with a pair of shorts and a large hat to shade you from those dangerous rays, and you’ll be good to go! I was able to put together this look incorporating geekdom with all three elements – who says you have to stick to just one fandom? Nay, I say!

festival

It’s always been a dream of mine to attend a music festival outside the state, namely: Coachella. I feel like I would probably pass out from heat and feel completely disgusting, but it would be worth it for that incredible line up. I put together this rockin’ outfit for those of you fellow music lovers. I believe the best kind of music is live music, and you’d definitely be able to enjoy it in a fandom tank (special shout out if it ties in with an amazing punk band, like this great Potter/Ramones mashup) and stretchy ripped pants. And, of course, no festival look is complete without a flower crown and big ‘ol shades!

What I Wore: Cursed Child

Processed with VSCO with e1 preset

Like every other good little Potterhead, I went to the midnight release party of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child script at my local independent bookstore. As if attending another midnight release party after nearly 9 years wasn’t exciting enough, it also fell on my birthday weekend (since Potter and I share one – humble brag). How amazing is that? I knew I had to wear something really special, so I got this crop top custom made by Jessica of DressicaDresses. You may remember I featured her shop as one of my favorite Supercon vendors. It was absolutely perfect and the evening was even more so! Sure, it was ridiculously hot in the bookstore and the lines at the bar were out of hand (yes, our indie bookstore also has a bar…and a cafe – we even had live music), but it was such a throwback to those good old Potter days of my past and a great way to celebrate another year of living the geek girl lifestyle.

Now, what did you all think of the script?
I’ll be reviewing it at length on the blog soon!
