Welcome to Wonderland: Decal How To

I grew up very much a Disney kid. When asked if I wanted the traditional “quinces” party, I asked if I could take a couple of friends to Disney for the weekend instead. I watched Aladdin and The Lion King about 5 times each in the theater. I dreamed of being Ariel…well, I still dream of being Ariel. You get the point.

Somewhere along the way, I no longer followed Disney and stopped visiting the parks. I think it mainly had to do with Islands of Adventure opening at Universal and being drawn to a more “adult driven” park. The second Wizarding World opened, it was all over. I never went to Disney. But, when I had little Luna, things changed. I remembered my happy Disney memories from when I was a kid and I wanted her to have the same. Say what you will about princess culture, because all it taught me was to never stop dreaming and to never give up on those dreams.

That’s why I’m so happy that little Luna is a brand representative for Welcome to Wonderland! It’s a great small local shop that caters to all us Disney loving mamas and kids. One of my favorite products are their decals. I like themĀ because you feel like you are in part a maker yourself. Sure, the shop made the decal, but there is still an element of DIY there, and that makes my little heart happy. I thought I would share with you all how easy it is to use these decals to make your own Disney-ready outfits!

I started with some easy to find plain white Gerber tees on Amazon. I ironed them first so that they were nice and flat: perfect to apply the decal. When they were cool to the touch, I put the decal’s sticky side down on the tee and the parchment paper it came in over the decal.

Nerdy Must Haves: La Barbuda

So I don’t tend to make monthly Nerdy Must Have posts center around one shop, but that’s how amazing I find La Barbuda to be. I have followed and purchased from her shop for some time now but her designs and products have gotten progressively better and better. She totally slays the geek chic aesthetic and I am absolutely obsessed. I’m really truly sorry if you feel the same shortly after reading through this post {not really}.

What I Wore: A Very Magical Christmas

img_3508

Quick confession: I’ve never been a fan of Christmas. It was always a bumpy time for my family, and just generally signaled stress for me. My husband has always been trying to break me of this, being a big fan of the holiday, and it was only when my daughter was born that I felt the switch turn on. This year was extra special because she’s a toddler, which means she is starting to react atĀ opening presents {at least the ones she likes}. I was all smiles seeing hers light up the entire room. It was at that moment that I realized what people mean about the magic of the holidays, and I can only imagine it is going to get only better from here.

What I Wore: A Star War

img_1128-copy

We had our last Geek Girl Brunch of the year opening weekend of Rogue One, so naturally, we made it a viewing brunch. Miami has a dine in theater that is now offering brunch items on their menu, so we went for it! As usual, I had a great time with my geek girls, but man – did that movie blind side me. Sure, you could tell me that I should have known better, but with everything that has been going on this month, I just really didn’t have time to think about movie plots or theories. I cried the.entire.time.

I don’t know if it was just poor timing after all the stress and anxiety I’ve been under after Luna’s hospitalization, but I just lost it. It felt good to have such an ugly cry session though – especially surrounded by nearly 20 other girls doing the exact same.

YouTubin’: A Buzz Bag 2-4-1

It’s been a long time coming, but here’s a new unboxing video. I had a great time opening these babies up, as they are two of my biggest fandoms, and I’m sure you will be able to tell from the amount of squee-ing taking place.

Life has been rough, but I’m happy to say that things are slowly going back to normal. Luna was hospitalized for severe dehydration after an apparent stomach flu (I still don’t buy it) that spanned 10 days. It was an absolutely terrible experience that left me both drained and absolutely thankful for every little healthy moment.

With that said, I know that my regular blogging routine was disrupted, but the good news is that I’m back and ready to tackle the remainder of 2016.
