I’m sure most of you ladies have been suckered into some sort of bracelet/charm collection. The most successful and popular being Pandora. Now, this little addiction can get quite costly (as can Alex & Ani, which I just recently started collecting), so I was happy to review Glamulet and their more affordable charm bracelets. They offer just as many beautiful charms, but at prices that won’t hurt your wallet, while also giving you free shipping. What is not to love with the holidays quickly approaching (seriously, they are and I’m having anxiety about it)? They are also packaged beautifully and I loved opening my little blue ribboned box!
Pipsticks Review & Coupon Code
I can’t tell you how much of a sticker fan I was when I was younger. I used to go to Publix with my dad for our weekly grocery trips and I would immediately run to the sticker racks. I was allowed to buy a couple of sheets a week to use on my scrapbooks, crafts, what have you. It literally made my day to see a new pack of adorable stickers – ones that were puffy, others that were scratch and sniff, and, of course, the coveted Garfield ones! That’s why I was so happy to get a package in the mail from Pipsticks, a monthly sticker subscription service.
I didn’t know what to expect when I ripped open the absolutely adorable packaging, but was so surprised to see the amount of goodies held inside! There were 15+ sheets or individual stickers included in my envelope, and some really fun postcards and one especially pertinent notecard that I plan on framing immediately. I like that the sticker sets varied from cute and kawaii to big and bold. They are perfect for fellow agenda freaks and crafters alike. I can’t wait to start using them to decorate what’s left of my 2015 Bando planner! They were also really unique and clearly expertly chosen. I loved the design aesthetic on basically everything.
If you are interested (& how could you not be), check out their 3 different clubs (they even have one dedicated especially for kids – how sweet) and enjoy free shipping if you are in the US! Even better? Check out my coupon code for all my readers: MEL 15 for 15% off any order!
iRead: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy
I couldn’t have loved this short and adorable guidebook to being a fangirl by Sam Maggs any more. Seriously. I found myself squealing, “yes!!!,” multiple times while reading certain passages and often read them aloud to my husband (to his constant chuckles). It basically contains everything needed to know about living the fangirl life, except what made this book special is that it spoke about fangirls in a positive light. Oftentimes the word is used in a derogatory manner, and I really appreciated that this book celebrated the fangirl with constant reassurance that you do not have to apologize for your strong feelings, uncontrollable actions and quirky habits. Paired with interviews with some pretty important ladies in the geek world and an entire section dedicated to feminism, it is the perfect gift to either give yourself or that geeky girl in your life. In fact, I plan on circulating the book around my circle of geeky girlfriends.
My absolute favorite part of the entire book though was the section dedicated to #thatconlife as I have affectionately hashtagged it. It detailed every single detail of convention culture whether you are a newbie, a cosplayer or a seasoned pro. Whatever Sam discussed, she was right on point – down to the con crud (I suffered from this illness a few years back after SDCC, and it was beyond awful) and post-con depression (I got this pretty bad after last year’s SDCC).
Basically, pick up this amazing book if you would label yourself as a geek girl, are dating a geek girl or would like to (wink wink). It’s a quick and enjoyable read with a lot of resources that are sure to make you smile and squee (sometimes all at once)!
5 Fandom Friday: 5 Most Binge Worthy Shows
I’m proud to say that this was one of my contributions to The Nerdy Girlie and SuperSpaceChick‘s 5 Fandom Friday prompts. Obviously, I’m a fan of binge watching shows. I try my best not to go full-binge, so that I don’t feel empty and sad inside when I no longer have a show to watch, but I have been known to spend the better part of a day sprawled out on my couch, gluten free pizza in hand watching episode after episode of a new fav. Don’t judge me, you know you do the same.
So here are some of my current binge-worthy shows (plus: you can find them all on Netflix, so have at it!):
1. Parks & Recreation; I am pretty sure I was the last possible person to get into this show. Truth is, I started watching it as it aired on TV, and I just didn’t think it was that funny. Thing is, apparently it got better the 2nd season, when I had long abandoned it. Fast forward to now, and seeing all the hilarious montage clips my friends were posting on Facebook in honor of the show’s ending, and I had to give it another chance. I am so so so glad I did. It is literally my happy place. I’m currently on Season 5 (of 6) and I never want it to end. I love all the characters like they are my actual friends, and know I’ll cry ugly tears once it’s all over.
My First Rocksbox
This month was the month of subscription boxes! Earlier, I received my first Rocksbox. What’s that? For $19 a month, you get a box containing 3 pieces of beautiful designer jewelry worth up to $200! Feel free to wear it as much or as little as you want, and when you have had your fill, go ahead and send it back. As soon as you do, you get another fun box full of new sparkly goodies. Plus, if you fall in love with any of the pieces and just have to have it, there is always the option to buy! For an accessory addict like myself, it was a no brainer.
