I never really understood the whole obsession with Clive Owen when he first broke out into “the scene” in a big way. I just didn’t find him attractive. Then I watched Sin City. I have no idea what changed my mind, but whatever it was totally did (black & white lighting? Chucks? Violence?). I’ve absolutely loved him ever since. Besides being smoking hot and having a beautiful English accent, the man really knows how to pick his parts and has done some amazing movies (Children of Men being one of my favorites). So all in all, he’s just a great little package, isn’t he? Enjoy what’s under the cut, my loves!

Weekend Highlights: Labor Day Edition
Unfortunately, I couldn’t enjoy my long weekend to the fullest because I came down with a pretty nasty cold mid-week. Thankfully, resting all Friday by calling in sick from work helped me feel well enough to hit the road Saturday night to attend the grand opening party for Pink Ghost, a great vinyl toy and art store (among other things). The store used to be located across the street from my hubby’s office in Las Olas, but recently made the move to Hollywood Circle, which from what I hear (I’m not that familiar with the area) was a good choice. We were so happy for the owners (we’ve developed a close relationship with them) and were blown away with the turn out! I picked up an adorable autographed “chubby book” illustrated by Helena Garcia, who was gracious enough to attend the party and sign her work. For those of you who dig this kind of merchandise and are local, definitely make your way over to Pink Ghost – the items are fun, the people are friendly and the location is ace! All win, all the time. Their new location is:

Lovable Friday!

Billy Corgan’s latest venture is being labeled as a “supergroup,” but I just like to think of Spirits in the Sky as a group of talented musicians that got together to have a little fun. The Spirits got together in remembrance of Sky Saxon, the Seeds’ singer/bassist that passed away earlier this year from an organ infection. The group includes Dave Navarro, Linda Strawberry, Mike Byrne (the Pumpkins’ new 19 year old drummer) and former members of other psychedelic 70’s bands. They decided to play to small crowds in tiny venues (such as Muddy Waters Coffee Shop) around Southern California and from the footage I have heard and seen, it was quite the show! Corgan premiered a few new songs, which can always be a little scary for a big Pumpkins fan like myself, but I was beyond impressed. The new material sounds great! I just wish they would have decided to mosey on over to our neck of the woods. Why does California get all the good stuff? Anywho, I’m happy for Billy because I know at this point in his life, what he wants to do more than anything, is just play good music for the fun of it. And he definitely seemed to achieve that with Spirits in the Sky.
Banana Ice Cream
A few posts back, I featured a great recipe for all my fellow readers that suffer from milk allergies but still crave a late night pint of Ben & Jerry’s (maybe that’s just me?). Who knew that if you froze bananas, placed them in a blender and then froze them again, you would get the most delicious ice cream? I was still a little weary while the hubs was preparing the concoction, but sure enough, the results completely blew me away! It had a custard-y consistency and a very heavy banana flavor, which I guess doesn’t work for everyone, but being a huge fan of bananas, tasted heavenly to me. Best part? My stomach did not rebel or send me any nasty messages throughout the day. Nothing. It was beautiful!

Happy Hump Post: Josh Holloway
First off, do you guys like my new logo for Hump Day? It reminded me of the Barbie lipstick logo, which I thought fit in with the theme pretty nicely: good girls being bad. OK, back to the matters at hand. Hot men. Today’s hump day hottie is everyone’s favorite castaway, Josh Holloway, who plays Sawyer on LOST. I’m pretty sure everyone knows how big of a LOST fan I am by now and the island is not in short supply of good looking people. I’m going to go out on a limb and say that Sawyer is on the top of that list. Funny enough, I couldn’t stand his character when the show started and it actually took several seasons for me to warm up to him – now, he is one of my favorites…for more reasons that one. Enjoy some of those below. 😉
