Yes, my blogging silence has officially ended. Rejoice?
I’ve seen quite a few bloggers posting this meme and thought it couldn’t be more relevant, after all, I am a bona fide concert addict. Nothing brings me greater joy than seeing bands that I truly love up close and personal – to have that connection that is really indescribable. Even better sometimes is going to a show blindΒ and being blown away by a new act. Discovering a band while Internet surfing or listening to your friend’s record collection cannot compare in the least bit with discovering them live. So without further ado, here is my (very long & comprehensive) list:

Along with a whole slew of opening bands…and I have a feeling I’m missing some actual bands – there have just been so many! My first concert was when I was 12 so I’ve had quite some time to rack up the shows. π
To mix things up, I figured I would add the bands that have managed to elude me over the years and that I am currently aching to see.
Who have you seen? Who would you like to see? Share in the comments!

Most of the ones I’ve seen are on your list (it is SO comprehensive): U2, Radiohead, Weezer, Foo Fighters, Shakira, NSYNC (while chaperoning little children, lol). I think the only one NOT on your list is Rabbit in the Moon which was a whole performance act along with the music. That was amazing!
After hearing your mixtape, downloading her songs, and seeing some videos, I would love to see Florence and the Machine LIVE! Too bad, she’s only scheduled to tour the UK and other parts of Europe =(
Melificent says
Florence and the Machine would be a-ma-zing. I actually have a way longer list of artists I’d love to see live that I haven’t, but decided to keep it to the ones that have been around for awhile but still have managed to escape me throughout the years. I’d also love to see the Dead Weather, The Kills, and of course, Muse as headliners!

Just thought of some others. Suenalo & The Bear McCreary Orchestra

hahaha i love that you’ve seen the WU in action!
lori is going to die a little when she finds out you got to see Veruca Salt. lol
so john mayer? i’ve been wanting to scoop up tix to the show in february but lori’s vehemently against the idea as she is Team Aniston to her core lol. i don’t like his album stuff, but i have a feeling the live show is good times. do you recommend?
Meli says
Heh, I saw Veruca Salt when they opened for Bush back in ’96 – all I remember is getting pummeled in the pit. Ah, the 90’s.
I haven’t heard John Mayer’s new album, except for his first single, which I didn’t like very much. However, I’m a huge fan of his old stuff and I think he’s really impressive live – a lot of raw emotion. He’s just a very talented musician. We are saving up the funds right now so we are not buying tickets for his show in February, but I would totally recommend checking him out. I’m sure Lori will change her mind – although I am appalled that she is on Team Aniston! Who is on that team!?!?

I absolutely love this!!! Maybe I’ll do a similar list just for shits and giggles too!!
I know I did not rack up as many shows as you have and I’m sure you know who I’ve seen one too many times this past year ;-).
But the one I was surprised to see in your list was N’Sync (not judging!!) There was a little Blockhead in me even when they came out, LOL!

Depeche mode
Stabbing westward

Bb king (coming to hard rock soon…maybe the last time before he leaves the world)

There’s more…but can’t think right now π
nadia says

Adrienne says
Love this π My list is not as comprehensive as yours but I’ve def seen a lot: incubus (6x +), nine inch nails (4x), brand new (2x), cut copy, glassjaw, red hot chili peppers, John Mayer, the faint, linkin park, korn, weezer, coheed and cambria, death cab for cutie, minus the bear, murder by death, Marilyn Manson, staind … and a ton more as part of festivals.
I’ve still never seen Depeche Mode and would love to. Also all the UK bands I love that won’t ever come to America.
Meli says
I would love to see Depeche Mode, Sarah McLachlan and Franz Ferdinand!!! You guys are giving me concert envy π
Anika says
Okay so you seeing *Nsync approximately 6 times makes me feel better about my first real concert being Celine Dion. π
I saw Beck at that festival in Golden Gate Park last summer and remember being kind of underwhelmed, but I have a feeling he might just not translate well in a festival. Soo I guess my tip would be the smaller the venue, the better. But I guess that’s generally true anyway, haha.
Nita says
Wow, that’s absolutely insane. That’s a LOT of live music, hehe.
Seeing that I live in a very very small area, I’ve not seen many. The White Stripes, Metric, Emm Gryner, All-4-one [hahaha] & many more smaller bands not many people have heard of but are amazing & are due more credit…like Wintersleep & The Constantines.
I kick myself because I loved Tegan & Sara when their first album was released almost 10 years ago & they played in my area at a tiny dive bar & I didn’t book time off work to go :/
