Friday night I braved the Super Bowl traffic and headed up north to Broward to celebrate our good friend, Omar’s birthday. Although the weather was most definitely not cooperating, we managed to have a great time at the always awesome Tarpon Bend. We picked up some yummy burgers and calamari and then danced like fools to their house band (which I always love), Fuse. Definitely going to hire them in the future. Happy birthday, OG!
Saturday was a pretty lazy day. But the first half was magical. We started off with our usual morning training session, but then picked up the Kharmann Ghia and had a little joy ride around West Kendall. We had lunch, visited our new home (!) and just cruised. It was one of those perfect days, you know? The rest of the day consisted of a lot of couch time watching the always wonderful My So-Called Life. Why was that show canceled again? Why doesn’t Jared Leto still look like that? Ah, questions that will never be answered…
Sunday was our friend, Jared’s, birthday celebration at Lips, a drag bar slash restaurant. It was my first time at Lips and I was so excited because I had only heard good things about it. It definitely lived up to the hype! We had a blast clapping, singing and being generally debaucherous (not a word? I don’t care). I think I want to hold every event from now on at Lips! Definitely check it out if you are in the South Florida area (there are locations in San Diego and New York as well). Also, definitely check out their gospel drag brunch (which is what we went to), for $16.50, you get to enjoy some pretty yummy food and unlimited mimosas and bloody mary’s! Win win? I think so!
