As you all know, I check a series of blogs on a regular basis to gather inspiration and keep up to date with what’s hot and what’s not. Unfortunately, This week it has been a little tough for me to keep up with my long list of favorite blogs, but I was lucky enough to stumble on one new favorite: Eat Drink Chic! The creator of this blog, Amy, is a graphic designer from Australia that states that the blog is “an exploration of style,” allowing her to experiment with wearing different hats. Not only are her posts beautiful, enjoyable and fun, but I definitely find her feelings towards her blog mirror my own towards Melificent. I can only hope my blog can be as wonderful as hers in the near future!
I never doubt the amount of pure talent the people around me radiate, especially when it comes to my husband. He’s just one of those people that is amazingly good at so many things. I suppose that’s why he has inspired me to try the same with creating and maintaining this blog as well as begin dabbling in wedding planning. He’s just one of those people you sit back and envy. This week, he submitted his amazing engagement session with our good friends, Bryant & Veronique, to Wedding Gawker (thinking he wouldn’t be deemed “good enough”) and he made the cut! I’m proud to say that I was his assistant (& second shooter) for the shoot and felt that this was one for the story books. If you are interested in any kind of photography service, please either contact me or my husband directly through his site: IA Collektive.
Wow! It’s hard to believe that these were a DIY project, but believe it! Guest blogger on 100 Layer Cake, Oh Hello Friend, provided the steps on how to make your own beautiful Save the Dates that are unique and memorable without breaking the bank. In fact, a lot of the materials used for these STD’s (such an unfortunate abbreviation) were found laying around the home or readily available through Etsy or Ebay listings. Definitely gives me the itch to plan an event!
How fun is this??? Blogger, Carolyn, from Care’s Finds posted this lovely detail from one of her recent parties. She made a banner to string around her home with lyrics to fit her theme: These Are a Few of My Favorite Things. She even loved it so much that it continued to decorate her home a week after the festivities! This would be so awesome at a Rock Band party – you could string together all the song titles! Definitely filing this away on my “must do” list.
What an amazing theme! This clearly amazing mama went to town when planning her outstanding baby shower, which was featured on Hostess with the Mostess. Although the circus theme is starting to get a little played out (at least for my liking), this is a more sophisticated and modern take on it. I absolutely adore all the vintage elements – especially the animals adorned with jewels and ribbons. I have to say, I am most probably going to save this one for when my own baby shower rolls around. Although God knows how many more creative and spectacular ideas will be floating around by then!
I hope you all have a great weekend!
I’ll be enjoying Alice in Wonderland tonight with the hubs & our friends at Cinebistro – can’t wait!

Congrats to the hubs on the awesome e-pics! You guys are both very talented! Although I haven’t thought that far in advance, I could definitely use your planning skills for my baby shower. Have fun at the movies! I can’t wait to see that flick.

I love Eat, Drink, Chic! Just came across it a couple of days ago via the blog, A Cup of Jo [http://joannagoddard.blogspot.com/]
Yeah, the circus theme is def. getting stale. I love this take on it, though. I wish it wasn’t so tacky to throw your own baby shower…I know if I have another one it will be dollar store plates & napkins & thrown together decor, sadly :/ Wanna come & throw me one & plan the whole thing? π

Super cute DIY Save the Dates. And congrats to your hubby for making the cut! Gosh someday I hope to have a blog as good as yours with such great and loyal readers. Melificent is such a great place for inspiration and entertainment =)

Adri – I would be more than happy to help you with your shower!!!
Nita – Don’t tempt me! Btw, there is no shame in planning your own shower. I planned my own bridal shower and will probably plan my own baby shower…just sayin’ π
Adriane – Thank you from the bottom of my heart for such kind words! <3!

Seriously? It’s not tacky to throw my own? or to even have a second shower? hehe…this one particular forum I’m on the girls were so judgmental about anyone throwing their own shower & some thought it was tacky to have one for a second baby. I feel every occasion should be celebrated, every baby should be celebrated…& in style π

Honestly, I don’t know if it’s just a cultural thing, but down here a lot of girls throw their own showers and also charge to attend, which I know is totally taboo anywhere else…I guess it all depends. I think you should do w/e you want to do and ignore what everyone else thinks – life is too short for the etiquette police sometimes!

Wow! Appreciate it! I continually wanted to create in my site an item like that. May I have part of the blog post for my own website?

John –
Not sure what you are referring to.
