Weekend Highlights

Friday night both the hubs and I met with friends for dinner at Smoke’t BBQ in South Miami. I had only heard great reviews of the place so I was really excited. Something else that made me really excited? The fact that it is one of the only places in South Florida that carries Rogue’s Dead Guy Ale on draft. Sold! My only beef with the place was their parking situation – it was entirely too cramped causing me to resort to metered parking (which I hate with a passion). However, otherwise, I had a great night – not only due to the food, of course, but to the company as well. I had the BBQ Pork Redneck Rolls, which simulate a sushi roll and are way more delicious and way less disgusting than they sound. I paired the rolls with their jalapeno mac ‘n cheese and was pretty sure I had died and gone to lactose heaven. The hubs decided he wanted to risk a mild heart attack and try the chicken and waffles. Although I didn’t give it a whirl, he seemed pretty satisfied – as did all the other boys that ordered the same. I can definitely see myself going back in the future to watch a game or just have a great time catching up with friends over some quality beer and food.

A Melificent Meal

For all of those not in the know, South Florida has been experiencing the most perfect weather this week. It’s been sunny, breezy and in the mid-70’s. Basically, true paradise. The hubs and I decided to take advantage and head out for a little date on the beach. Instead of bringing along our bikes, we decided to take it easy and stay on our feet (we were feeling a little under the weather). We did some window shopping, saw an adorable Boston Terrier and lamented about how we couldn’t afford half of the things we just saw before cruising past Shake Shack. We remembered that they had a special menu for Oktoberfest and decided we couldn’t pass it up! I had their garlic sausage and really wish it could become a menu staple – it was perfectly delicious and really hit the spot along with a chilled beer. Unfortunately, this special menu is no longer. It was only available from October 1st – 10th. Until next time?

I spent Sunday afternoon with some pretty lovely ladies celebrating our friend, Larissa, and her pregnancy. She’s lucky enough to be having two little bundles of joy – that’s right! Twins! Who doesn’t love ’em? We had a delicious brunch, played silly baby games and generally had a great time being girly. Doesn’t the mommy-to-be look great for 7 months? I sure do know a lot of hot mama’s!

I hope you all have a great week & cross your fingers Melificent won’t fall prey to another mid-week hack!
