Weekend Highlights: Halloween Edition!

This weekend was so much fun I could hardly stand it, but I didn’t expect anything less. It is no secret that I have a pretty serious love affair with Halloween and really enjoy dolling up for the festivities. Saturday night we had the annual AgencyNet Halloween party in their new digs. I finally unveiled my secret costume that I had been concealing for several months now – Maleficent! Thanks to the Academy of Glam, I was able to really perfect the look with some kick ass makeup. All other pieces were picked up randomly through Amazon stores and American Apparel. I’m really happy with the way the costume turned out and it was a little too fun to be evil for a night. Although, I have to admit that perfecting a villainous bitch face was tough!

After recovering from one hell of an excellent party, we attempted to make the most of our Halloween night. We visited my nephew and joined them at a family’s haunted house. It was all fun and games, but unfortunately, we were just too pooped to really function and decided to make it an early night. We didn’t expect to come home as early as we did, and were surprised when we saw our neighborhood swarming with little ones trick or treating. I immediately panicked because we had no candy in the house and what we did next, I am not proud of. We blocked the entrance to our house with our cars and turned off all our house lights. We were basically sitting in the dark watching TV quietly when the knocks began. I could not believe we were still getting trick or treaters despite our obvious “stay away” cues. These kids are serious! I felt absolutely terrible and hope my neighbors do not think we are the equivalent of the Christmas grinch. Oops!

How did all of you spend your Halloween weekend?
What did you dress up as?

Meli, I am disappointed! I can’t believe you of all people wouldn’t stock some emergency candy! 😛

Your costume is totally awesome, btw.

[…] It’s no secret on this blog that I adore Halloween and it is my favorite holiday. I usually wait until October rolls around to start the themed postings, but I just couldn’t help myself. In my world, it’s officially Fall (even though we have no seasons here in Miami) and that means I can start planning all the fun decor for this year’s spooky festivities. Last year, I started decorating my home on October 1st and was sorely disappointed when no other homes in my neighborhood followed suit. For the entire month. For that reason, I feel pressure to make my house look even more spooky this year! I want it to stand out and really reflect our love of the holiday. Screw you, haters! Plus, this year I’ll make sure to have plenty of candy in stock as to not have a repeat case of the debacle that was candygate 2010. […]
