Weekend Highlights

Thanks to Yelp, the hubs and I scored free tickets to see the epic Trans-Siberian Orchestra at the American Airlines Arena on Friday night. Although I wasn’t too familiar with their tuneage, I was ready for an all out rock with your cock out experience complete with pyrotechnics, head-banging and extreme effects. Although that’s exactly what we got, we found ourselves a bit bored mid-way throughout the performance. I think this was due to the drawn out “story line” that took place throughout the show, narrated by an over-enthused man. Unfortunately, these narrations would sometimes outwear their welcome by dragging on for sometimes 10 minutes at a time. However, when they rocked, boy did they ever. I just wish there was more of it.

Giveaway: Be My Clementine

I’m not a good cook. I felt like I’ve tried (my hubby would argue against that), but just cannot get it down pat. I don’t know if it is a fear of getting hurt or just a lack of understanding of all things culinary (my mother never cooked either so I didn’t grow up in a kitchen), but I’m pretty terrible. I plan on continuing to make attempts, as I’d like to be able to cook something for our future children, but I digress.

Something I am good at is baking. I really enjoy it and find it to be therapeutic, especially while done listening to amazing music and sipping on good wine. It also makes me feel very girly and domestic for some reason, and every now and then, I like that. And for those fun baking-related therapy sessions of one, cute protective wear is needed. Cue Be My Clementine!

Happy Hump Day: Michael C. Hall

With a nerve-wracking season finale quickly approaching this Sunday, I found it appropriate to feature everyone’s favorite TV serial killer, Michael C. Hall. He continues to blow audience’s minds with his hauntingly raw performance on Showtime’s Dexter and was an inspiration to all when he battled and kicked the ass of Hodgkin’s lymphoma (mainly in private), which he has stated is now in remission. I had the pleasure of meeting Michael (so weird not to refer to him as Dexter) at this past year’s Comic Con and he was just as lovely as I imagined. I wish him and his beautiful wife, Jennifer Carpenter, nothing but all the happiness in the world! Enjoy the picspam and try not to chew all your fingernails off while watching this week’s Dexter finale!

Update: Just got an email detailing that Michael C. Hall will be visiting New York City’s 101.9 RXP tomorrow, 12/9, during The Rock Show at 8am. He will also be playing his favorite tunes on air Sunday, 12/12, at 7pm before the season finale! So make sure to tune in!

Trend Bush!

Today, both myself and all the members of the Bush Army, a group of dedicated fans of the band Bush, will be attempting to trend the band on Twitter. I’d love it if some of my great readers could jump on board and help! Everyone knows how much the band means to me and how excellent they are with their fans from all my amazing experiences I have shared on here, so they are definitely well worth it. And all you have to do is pretty simple:

1. Log into your Twitter account or create an account here (it’s free!).

2. Make a post. About anything related to the band and/or music. Make sure to include the following hashtag: #Bush

Easy as 1,2…wait, there’s not even a 3!

Hope you can all participate. And for all of those that find my activity today annoying, feel free to block my tweets or just ignore them. I’ll be back to my regular tweeting schedule tomorrow!

ps; Special thanks to Ace for putting the video above together. Make sure to check out her other Bush-related videos on her youtube channel, ChemicalsBWus!

Weekend Highlights

This past week Miami played host to the very artsy fartsy Art Basel. It is a contemporary art exhibition, which has been referred to as the Olympics of the art world. Although I am not a fan of the pretentious crowd that makes its way into my city, I absolutely love all the talent that starts flooding in as well. There was an overwhelming amount of galleries, exhibits, installations and events going on throughout South Beach, Downtown and the Design District and at times, was enough to make your head spin. Thankfully, I decided to take it easy this time around by picking and choosing those that seemed really up my alley without overdoing it. Which ones made the cut? Metric’s free show on the beach, Toyota Antics at Grand Central featuring Phantogram (too bad they didn’t play until after we left), Rainbow City and Hello Kitty’s 50th anniversary Small Gift party.
