So next week, the hubs and I will be embarking on a much deserved BabyMoon. What is that, you ask? Well, it’s a new trend where couples take a vacation during pregnancy – similar to a honeymoon. As my pregnancy progresses, I realized I hadn’t gone on vacation since right before I found out I was pregnant and I’m really needing one more than ever. My feet have grown sore and I’m pretty tired on a constant basis. The idea of just laying around being pampered by the sea sounds exactly like what I need right now.
We’ll be heading to The Florida Keys for 4 days to do exactly that. Now it’s not the easiest vacation to dress for since I’m expanding a little more these days, so I thought I’d help out other expectant moms and just travelers in general with some great beach essentials for those upcoming summer getaways.
Now this is an area that you can really play with even when pregnant. It may be difficult to find really cute and fun pieces to wear, but it’s a free for all when it comes to accessories! Since we are going the beach route, I wanted to make sure I had a little brightness and silliness. No one takes themselves too seriously on the beach – much less in The Keys.

As far as outfits, I am going for the comfortable glam look while on our vacation. Not only am I getting larger, but we’ll also be in a beach atmosphere that is very laid back. There’s no need to fully glam it up, but I still want to look nice without sacrificing my comfort. All the outfits I’m bringing can be thrown over a swimsuit and this one is no exception. An easy loose tank with a fun saying tied over a graphic high-waisted maxi is the perfect beach look for watching the sunset with a {virgin} piña colada in hand. Paired with a large hat and Birks, and you are chic as can be.

Next up is the kind of tricky part: swimsuits. If you are expecting, I challenge you to wear a 2-piece. Sure, it may be a little frightening, especially if you were used to high defined hip bones and a flat tummy like me. However, now is such a beautiful time in your life that you should embrace without feeling self conscious. It was definitely a reflection I had to get used to while in fitting rooms, but I have to say that I love my little pregnant curves, especially in a bikini! Surprisingly, I found some great fits at both Forever 21 and Target just by sizing up, and when paired with an ethereal sheer kimono, you start feeling a little Mother Earth, which is a beautiful way to feel.

So what do you think should be added to the list?
What are your favorite places to escape to for short & easy vacations?
