I am an independent contractor in every sense of the word. Even though one day I’d like to be a business owner (girl bossin’), at the moment, I don’t have an office and work mainly out of my home or am on the road servicing clients at theirs. The blog also has me working out of bed most days, and I let the hubby take our extra room for his office space (after all, I took all the closet space). Lately I’ve been dreaming of having my own workspace and where it would be or what it would look like. I love the idea of coworking spaces, like the one my husband works at. WeWork is another fantastic option, and they just opened a location here in Miami on South Beach (and all over the world). Although driving the 30-45 minutes it usually takes to get to the beach from my home doesn’t sound super appealing, the thought of having my own personal space to get things done privately and without interruption does!
So how would I make my space fit my style?
In a co-working space, it’s important to bring in elements that represent your style or interests. I like a lot of color pops and graphic heavy accessories. Naturally, I’m a geeky girl so I’m going to tie that in to my decor. First off, what is most necessary is the right chair. I personally love this Eames-style chair in bubblegum pink. You can accessorize it with some geeky throw pillows from Society 6 and if you get cold easily like I do, you can toss a fun, fandom-inspired blanket over it from Look Human to keep you warm from the dreaded office A/C.
As for the walls, I dig a little girl power for moments when inspiration seems lacking. This Babe Cave banner is too cute for words and can also remind you that this babe takes no prisoners. I’m also kind of in love with these vintage tattoo style Sailor Moon prints that can be framed and be part of a gallery wall that will surely be a topic of conversation when you have visitors or clients stop by. Finally, I have a slight obsession with Sonny Angels at the moment (more on that later this week), and I’d love to display them in my space in a fun hexagon-shaped wall shelf.
One day I’d love to be able to share a true office space tour with you all, but for now, this will have to do!
Do you have a home office? What would you add to your work space?

when i started working from home i made a “corner desk” in the guest room. one part desk, one part furniture with a painted wood panel on top. 🙂

I think I may be able to wing a “double desk” situation in our office for both Augi and I (he never even uses his desk space – he just plays guitar in there) eventually!

That chair is too cute and I love the Babe Cave sign!
I finally added a desk! I have a desk which brings me joy because I no longer have to work on the floor or bed. I’m actually adding most of my Star Wars collectibles all around it because I’m all about Star Wars.

When I was co-working at GamePlay Space I had half my toy collection scattered over my computer and desk. Also, having a personal, nerdy mug is essential.

Love those pillows, and that blanket! I so love Society 6, but my wallet so doesn’t. 😀

A desk is super important! We have a pretty rad vintage one in ours and it angers me that my husband never really uses it! I’m starting to think his “office” should be converted into mine!

You can tell I’m not a coffee drinker b/c I totally forgot about the mug!
melificent says
Ha. I can relate on that end!

Haha! I guess so.
