Being Geek Chic: How to Style a Fandom Skirt

IMG_0352

When thinking of fandom-related skirts, you may struggle with how it could work outside of lets say, a geek girl brunch or a local convention. I’m here to share with you how you can incorporate a fandom skirt (in this case, the beautiful Moon Transformation skirt from TeeFury) for many different styled occasions. It’s possible and appropriate!

I know I use this as a common outing, but it’s something I really miss doing on the regular, and that is: day drinking. If you are heading out on the town during the day with your girls, whether it be brunch, bar hopping or just taking in the sights while traveling, this outfit would work perfectly. Pair the skirt with a fun crop top and don’t fear too much pattern. The top I used is also a Sailor Moon reference and may have seemed too busy to pair with another patterned piece. Wrong! The two look great and the fact that they are both from the same fandom ties it in so nicely. When you add a pair of comfy, but stylish, sneakers to the mix, you are so ready to hit the pavement for a full day of fun!

Got a hot date on the calendar? You can still rock your fandom of choice by pairing this skirt with a daintier, feminine piece. I opted for another crop top because it was lacy and delicate. When I added some fun fringe boots, it really completed the soft look. Obviously, crop tops are not for everyone, so you can always choose another option. I personally love the high waisted styling of this skirt because it does allow me to wear cropped tops without feeling self conscious because the bottom of the top meets the top of the skirt, thus not baring too much skin (or any at all). This silhouette is so perfect for an evening out!

And finally: my absolute favorite look! I feel like you can rock this anywhere and with anyone! As you all know by now, I love me some awesome denim jackets that you can accessorize with some major pin game, and this is the perfect excuse to toss one on. A tank top, this skirt and a denim vest is the perfect ensemble to rock your fandom virtually everywhere. If you change the footwear (super tall creepers might be a little difficult to maneuver in a theme park, for example), I can’t think of one place you can’t sport this to.

So there you have it! Three different ways to rock the same skirt!
Hope this helps some of you when it comes to styling more fandom-related pieces in your closet. The goal is to incorporate it into daily use instead of just pulling it out when you have something geeky to attend.

What would you like to see me style next for this feature?

Special thanks to TeeFury for sending me this skirt to style!

Love this! Have been drooling over those skirts for a while now.

We would love to see you style a non-fandom item (like a plain sundress) and show three ways to incorporate nerdy loves into a regular clothing item.
