Things have been bumpy lately in our world, and I am the first to say that I was angry, sad and confused. I still am, but I realized something important. The way I can “fight back” is by continuing to live my life. Huh?
I can continue living my life as a kind, compassionate, accepting and loving individual. I can continue supporting my amazing LGBT friends. I can continue to be proud of what my parents, immigrants to this country, built on absolutely nothing and look in awe of what a lot of my friends, also immigrants, have been able to do (sometimes in the very short period they have been in this country). I can continue to be blind to race, ethnicity and religious beliefs. I can continue to believe in the good in this world. And most importantly, I can pass on all of this to my daughter. She may only be a year old, but she is watching…feeling.
All of this is the stark opposite of what the now leader of our country has been spreading and this is my form of protest. I’m not going to let this decision blow out my light. I will take up space and I will shine. I will smile a little more at strangers. I will not let this bruise and batter me. I owe it to my daughter, and to this country. We will rise up, unified. I believe in us, and you should too. Love still trumps hate, and always will.

I had so much fun playing with my little one and treasuring these moments during this shoot, only hours before we found out the election results. I want to bottle those feelings and keep them with me for the next 4 years. If you want to feel as comfortable as I did running after a toddler in the Miami humidity, whether pregnant or momming it hard, check out PinkBlush.

Gorgeous photos. The election results shook me, and I’m not even American. But, like with Brexit, the only thing you can do in these situations is keep living your life and spread positivity and love wherever you go. If you can do that, the world will be a better place, because love always trumps hate. And your daughter will have an amazing role model as she grows up! x http://www.aimeeraindropwrites.co.uk x

That she is! I’m glad you feel like you are in a safe bubble here because I don’t! My neighborhood is littered with Trump signs, my friends have had obscenities screamed at them on the street by strangers and I can’t even speak about this topic with any of my family members because they are Trump supporters. Just because we are multicultural does not mean there isn’t a whole lot of hate around (there always has been down here in my opinion).
