What I Wore: The Last Unicorn

img_2502

As usual, Geek Girl Brunch days are my favorite days. It provides a creative outlet for my mind, and allows for some very coveted “me” time. Being an officer has been so fulfilling, and I can’t wait to continue planning some killer events with my bestie. With that said, I knew exactly what I was going to go for when we started planning for a Fantastic Beasts-themed brunch. I had gotten this incredible unicorn headpiece as part of a SDCC swag bag from The Fashionably Nerdy party. The minute I saw it, I was obsessed but had never had the opportunity to use it. Achievement: unlocked.

I challenged myself to find the rest of the outfit in my own closet, which turned out to be a cinch. I love my two tulle skirts so that was a given, and paired with my favorite basic crop top and pointy flats, I was ready to channel those dark + mystical unicorn vibes. I had extra fun with my makeup and realized hot pink eyeshadow can be a great every day look (I’m totally serious).

Not going to lie, I may attempt to rock this look on the daily in hopes that I may actually magically transform into a unicorn, so you have been warned.

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

1. TARDIS floppy hat; GeekyU hits it out of the ballpark again with this incredible on trend floppy hat for summer emblazoned with the iconic police box logo (plus don’t miss the bow in the back). This would look so adorable paired with a bright red or plain black bikini (don’t forget to pack your Sonic along with your sunscreen).

2. Baymax crossbody bag; I can’t get enough of Baymax related anything, so it should come as no surprise that I am in love with this adorable crossbody bag (the emoji ones are cute too, but…) from Spree Picky. I simply have to have it to complete my next LBD ensemble.

3. Unicorn champagne horn; I honestly think I may die if I am not sipping my champagne out of this incredible UNICORN HORN when the clock turns 12 NYE this year. I mean, it’s clearly the best thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Do you think people would judge me if I brought it everywhere…weddings, blogging events, birthday parties, etc. No, right? Cool.

4. Kawaii badass crop; I don’t know about you, but I like the idea of being a kawaii badass. Who doesn’t want to be adorable and dangerous? This sailor scout in training would rock this crop top all over the streets of Miami…well, post baby that is. #weightlossgoals

Nerdy Must Haves

Potter crop top; I love it when designs include elements of a fandom only. It instantly makes it super-fan relatable and will cause little knowing smirks everywhere you go. This crop top is the perfect example. How cute would this be paired with a high waisted skirt or shorts? It’s definitely going on my list of outfits for my next Wizarding World adventure!

JK & Radcliffe holy candle; I met the creator of these hysterical holy fandom candles at Shock Pop a couple of weeks ago. She is a complete doll and her products are amazing. Unfortunately, this specific design was sold out at her booth, but I found it on her Etsy shop! If you have a wicked sense of humor, you will get a kick out of all her candle designs. I personally can’t wait for a reason to gift one – these make excellent gag gifts for the fangirl/fanboy in your life!

Potter alphabet cards; I can’t even deal with the cuteness that is the Afternoon Coffee Etsy shop. I’m obsessed. Mainly due to these Harry Potter alphabet cards. How adorable would they be in a kid’s room (or an adult’s)?? Check out the rest of her store too if you are a Potter Head. I promise your eyes will be overjoyed and your wallet will be depressed.

Unicorn phone case; This baby is unfortunately out of stock on Asos, but how perfect is it? Granted, I’m sure it would be a little bulky to carry around, but on the plus side, you’d never lose it in a crowded purse, am I right?? Plus, it’s a freaking unicorn. That trumps all.

Nerdy Must Haves

1. Unicorn Head Mount; this is so wondrous I almost can’t believe it exists in this world. If I ever have a little girl, this is definitely going in her nursery. I can’t imagine a unicorn wall bust ever being a bad idea, do you? Forget a nursery, one is going in each room of my house. Done and done.

2. LOST pillow; why hello classy home accessories featuring my favorite show of all time! This store on Etsy is my new favorite, and this pillow case especially needs to find a place in my house. It’s probably the LOST quote I use the most on a daily basis (aside from “WAAAALLLLTTT”), so I must have a visual reminder at all times. It’s only natural.

3. Hannibal Stag Necklace; I definitely don’t have enough Hannibal swag (well, aside from the permanent ink on my skin), and I’d love to start with this beautiful stag necklace from UnicornEmpirePrints. It’s so pretty and definitely not an overt homage to the Bryan Fuller show. As you all know, nothing gets me happier than wearing accessories or apparel that only true fans appreciate. I would probably hug anyone that took note of this necklace. You’ve been warned. They can get violent.

4. Sailor Moon Chokers; this perfectly marries two of my favorite things – Sailor Moon and the 90’s. Who wouldn’t want an awesome Sailor Moon charm choker??? I, personally, would rock it on an every day basis thankyouverymuch. Apparently I’m not the only one because this seller only has 2 charms left in stock! You better pick yours up soon and fast – they currently have a great discount code running (“WildStrawberries” gives you 23% off)!

What I Wore: Breezy & Balmy

Sorry to the rest of you, but in Miami, it is already summer time. We spent a great day with friends visiting places we had never been: Funky Buddha Brewery and Rock n Roll Ribs (omgz I was able to eat something). Despite a crazy storm very early morning, we had a GORGEOUS day to contend with, so I pulled together my most perfect summer outfit. Both these pieces are so light and breezy, it barely feels like you have anything on at all. Paired with my absolute favorite unicorn clutch (totally adorable, but not exactly functional – itty bitty space that barely holds a phone), I think I found my go-to outfit for the months to come.
