Lovable Friday

1. DIY Colored Mason Jars

It’s no secret: I love easy DIY projects! Although I don’t consider myself to be very crafty, I can do spray painting without any difficulties. Promise. And this simple DIY project consisting of a can of spray paint and a pack of mason jars really does it for me. Just think of these pretties adorning a table at an event or even as a centerpiece for a shower – they would be so perfect! And the best part is that they would take minimal time and effort, as well as be gentle on your wallet. I, for one, can’t wait to give these babies a test run. If you are also interested, you can pick up large packs of mason jars at Big Lots for under $15! Thank me later 😉

{SqueeWorthy}: Halloween Weddings

Weddings, weddings, weddings. Almost 3 years after my own, I still absolutely adore them. Attending them, planning them, reading about them, you name it! And one particular kind of wedding has always intrigued me: the Halloween wedding. Two of my favorite things combined? Yes please! Unfortunately, my family would have probably had my head on a stake if I had decided to have a Halloween wedding of my own (my mom has always harbored an intense dislike of the holiday), so I have to be satisfied with just oogling others’ fabulously spooky wedding days.

I think it’s a talent to be able to have a tasteful yet fun Halloween themed wedding because it’s so easy to go over-the-top and get tacky. That’s why I’m in awe of people that do it right, and these people…they did it right. All brides-to-be (Halloween or not), take note:

Lovable Friday: Halloween 2010 Edition

Pumpkin Faces
1. Pumpkin Faces

Nothing says Halloween like arts and crafts. And when I say arts and crafts, I mean the queen of them herself, Martha Stewart. Sure she’s creepy, a low-talker, and yes, she may even look like she’s ready to snap on a sweet gingerbread man at any moment. But she certainly knows how to host a party. These pumpkin faces are just adorable, and are easy to do for any Halloween occasion. All you need is a jar, candy to fill the jar, a pumpkin and soft candy to mold however you please for the silly/scary faces.

Squeeworthy: Monkey & Squirrel

I absolutely love wall hooks. I think they can spice up a room without too much effort and can also help organize. Two birds, one stone. Lately I’ve been on the hunt for some hooks after seeing how fantastic they worked in the hubs’ office space, but have had kind of a tough time. I was floored over the weekend when I window shopped at Anthropologie – I could not believe that some of their wall hooks (one beautiful octopus hook in particular) were almost $50! That’s just ridiculous. I became a little downtrodden and thought I may never find an affordable and kitschy wall hook for both my purses and necklaces – that is, until I found the Monkey & Squirrel Etsy store last night!

Cast Iron Deer – $18
Long Horn – $9
Mermaid – $16
Ye Royal – $16
Lil’ Kitty – $9
Cast Iron Horse – $18

These prices I can definitely live with – and how cute are they??? Plus, the store has other really cute items such as headbands and paperweights. Cute organization is mine! Eureka!

Weekend Highlights

It’s October, everyone!!!!

Why so excited? Well, aside from all the birthdays  & events I have lined up this month, it means it is HALLOWEEN! As long as I can remember, Halloween has been my favorite holiday. I think it was the whole be someone else aspect that really made it so appealing. I also have always loved playing dress up, so it’s right up my alley. I generally start looking for costume ideas around August and have made a decision by September. This year, I picked my costume relatively early and am so excited to see it come together.

But what I was just as excited for this year was decorating a house! In our old apartment, I was definitely limited in what I could do decor-wise and usually just settled for a hanging door sign. Well, limited decorations no longer! The second the calendar fell on October 1st, I began shopping and decorating. By the time Sunday rolled around, our house was in full blown ghoul mode. Unfortunately, it seems like we are the only house in the neighborhood that has gone spooky – I’m really hoping that will change as the month continues because I’d hate to live in an area where people don’t celebrate such a fun holiday.

What do you guys think of Halloween? How do you decorate?
