What I Wore: A Very Magical Christmas

img_3508

Quick confession: I’ve never been a fan of Christmas. It was always a bumpy time for my family, and just generally signaled stress for me. My husband has always been trying to break me of this, being a big fan of the holiday, and it was only when my daughter was born that I felt the switch turn on. This year was extra special because she’s a toddler, which means she is starting to react at opening presents {at least the ones she likes}. I was all smiles seeing hers light up the entire room. It was at that moment that I realized what people mean about the magic of the holidays, and I can only imagine it is going to get only better from here.

What I Wore: A Star War

img_1128-copy

We had our last Geek Girl Brunch of the year opening weekend of Rogue One, so naturally, we made it a viewing brunch. Miami has a dine in theater that is now offering brunch items on their menu, so we went for it! As usual, I had a great time with my geek girls, but man – did that movie blind side me. Sure, you could tell me that I should have known better, but with everything that has been going on this month, I just really didn’t have time to think about movie plots or theories. I cried the.entire.time.

I don’t know if it was just poor timing after all the stress and anxiety I’ve been under after Luna’s hospitalization, but I just lost it. It felt good to have such an ugly cry session though – especially surrounded by nearly 20 other girls doing the exact same.

Holiday Gift Guide

Guys. This is it.
The last day of November, which means that Christmas is officially upon us. I am lucky enough to have finished 96% of my shopping and can sit pretty, but I know a lot of you are still on the hunt, trying to find the best gifts for family and friends. If some of those on your list are of the geeky variety, then I’ve got a fun round up for you!

Minted: Holiday Card Reveal

img_2776

As you all probably remember, I teamed up with Minted to host a pretty killer giveaway. We had two lucky winners that snagged gift cards that basically gave them the opportunity to score free holiday cards! I picked up some cards of my own and I cannot wait to share them with you all!

I absolutely love that you can choose between three sizes because I honestly like more petite cards, so the smaller size was definitely my go-to. The quality is fantastic – the cards are sturdy and made of thick card stock. Plus, how can you not love that each design is made by an independent artist? We personally chose the Good All Year design by Amy Payne because it just fits with our lighthearted personalities. Plus, we knew we just wanted Luna in our cards this year (it’s hard enough to get her ready for a shoot, much less the three of us these days), so the more playful vibe worked great with a toddler picture.

Girl Power + My MoboVida

img_2443

Even though things might still be rocky these days, I love the continual emphasis of girl power. I love that ladies are aware of their power and strength and are passing that knowledge and confidence on to their daughters. I am the forever optimist and believe that we, together, will make a change. It may not be today or tomorrow, but we are still doing good. I beg you all to believe in this good and be the good.

That’s why I decided to dress up my new MoboVida case with an Eleven sticker. She represents a lot to me, but mainly strength, sacrifice and MUTANT POWERS. Just kidding, but not really. I like having a strong female emblazoning something everyone that interacts with me gets to see – it’s always a conversation starter! So if you are looking for a way to make something otherwise utilitarian a little more geeky, my vote is for a sticker of one of your favorite characters or sayings. It will not only make your accessories more geek chic, but it will also be a visual reminder of something that makes you happy or inspires you.
