Happy Hump Day: Hugh Grant

My friend used to pose a question to all girls he met, “Ewan McGregor or Hugh Grant?” He believed that this would lend some insight into their personality, but eventually became a source of frustration. Why, you ask? Well, because he realized every single girl he encountered would reply with Hugh Grant. He just couldn’t understand why. I always told him that it was his boyish charm that won us ladies over (despite that pesky arrest for lewd behavior). Since those college days, he has moved out of Florida and we don’t keep in touch steadily, but I do wonder if he ever met a girl that replied Ewan.

Since you all know what I answered, what would you?

Happy Hump Day: Viggo Mortensen

It’s impossible not to take note of Viggo Mortensen. Not only is he all sorts of lovely, but he’s a jack of all trades: musician, photographer, artist, and these are just a few. Although I knew of him, I fell in love with him in the role of Aragorn in the Lord of the Rings trilogy. I can’t imagine anyone else in the role, although a funny tidbit is that it was initially supposed to go to Stuart Townsend, who was actually fired after a few days for being too young. And the rest, as they say, is history. During filming, he carried his camera around at all times and managed to snap some of my favorite pictures of Elijah and Dominic. He also was known for being overly affectionate with all members of the cast and Miranda Otto, who played Eowyn, stated in an interview that it was not difficult to act as if she was in love with him. I think we can all agree with you, girl.

Happy Hump Day: Nathan Fillion

With this being my sole opportunity to pick a Hump Day Hottie, it was imperative that I make an excellent choice. With that in mind, I went with none other than Captain Tightpants himself, Nathan Fillion. Firefly was arguably the first sci-fi show that I ever truly loved. I’ve now watched it more times than I can count and Malcolm Reynolds remains one of my favorite characters to this day. I would love to fly around the ‘verse on Serenity.

Naturally, Joss Whedon’s brilliant vision has quite a bit to do with that. Fortunately for all of us, Joss and Nathan have a thriving bromance that doesn’t look to be ending anytime soon: you may remember Nathan as Caleb on Buffy the Vampire Slayer or as Captain Hammer in Doctor Horrible’s Sing-Along Blog. Did you all also hear that Joss directed a version of Much Ado About Nothing with so many Whedonverse actors that I couldn’t possibly list them all here? To say I’m excited would be a serious understatement. It also helps that Mr. Fillion seems like a genuinely wonderful, kind person, consistently cracks me up on Twitter, and was adorably befuddled in Waitress. He also popped up in disguise at The Joss Whedon Experience panel Meli and I attended at SDCC 2010 to ask Joss who his favorite actor is during the fan questions. Joss’ response? “It’s Nathan Fillion!” as he pointed to the microphone, revealing the speaker’s identity. I think we all know he only spoke the truth. With the gushing out of the way, enjoy the photos:

Happy Hump Day: Emile Hirsch

Hirsch

You may recognize this California-born piece of heaven from such movies as Lords of Dogtown (2005), Alpha Dog (2006), Into the Wild (2007) and Speed Racer (2008). But who can forget his breakout leading role as Matthew Kidman in The Girl Next Door (2004)? Emile Davenport Hirsch may be baby-faced and young to boot, but at age 26 he boasts 32 impressive acting roles, especially as Chris McCandless in Into the Wild and Cleve Jones in Milk. This young actor is a force to be reckoned with.

I first fell hard for Emile in the movie The Girl Next Door, as soon as he threw his arms around the beautiful Elisha Cuthbert and This Year’s Love by David Gray filled the background music in the scene.

With that, I leave you with my favorite collection of this sexy mofo!

Happy Hump Day: Adam Levine

I first discovered Maroon 5 when they were featured in a popular Floridian department store’s commercial about 9 years ago or so. I loved the song (can’t even remember the single they used now), and my friends were resourceful enough to find out that this wonderful band was coming in concert. So we bought their CD and our $5 tickets (yes, really) and saw them perform in the backstage area of an amphitheater. What I remember the most is their amazing cover of Nine Inch Nails’ Closer, and apparently what I remember the least is that a very young (& adorable) Jason Mraz opened for them. Aside from their vintage musical stylings (yeah, I’m not a fan of their more recent material), what I loved the most was Mr. Adam Levine’s good looks. Sure, he’s a d-bag and the whole nine, but have you seen him work that microphone? And have you seen him topless? It almost makes me forget that their new single sounds like the season’s new gay anthem (not that there’s anything wrong with that). 😉
