- Mickey blouse; I am loving the trend of working girl fandom pieces. This is such a great example that you can transition geek chic into the work place and look good while doing it! It could also moonlight as a cute nighttime Disney date top. Options, people!
- AT-AT poodle skirt; the creativity of this skirt just amazes me. It is such a wonderful play on the 50’s poodle skirt, and I need to have it in my closet right now. Can you imagine this for Dapper Day? I die. Fun fact: I used to dress as a 50’s girl repeatedly for Halloween, so it has an extra special place in my heart.
- Wonder Woman costume; I have to say that I fully intended to dress Luna up as Wonder Woman this year for Halloween, but I figured everyone else would so I’ll be going a different route. BUT Luna will have a day to dress up at school and this will definitely be what she will be wearing. How cute is this! I love that it is original, handmade and is not store bought. And so should you. 😉
- Game of Thrones makeup brushes; I know everyone is riding high on the GOT wave these days with the second to last season airing. Lord knows I am (how good was this week’s?!?!). I don’t know if I’d actually use these brushes to apply makeup, but they are absolutely beautiful. The one that really slays me? The hand of the king. So gorgeous! Bonus? They’re on sale!
Holiday Gift Guide
Guys. This is it.
The last day of November, which means that Christmas is officially upon us. I am lucky enough to have finished 96% of my shopping and can sit pretty, but I know a lot of you are still on the hunt, trying to find the best gifts for family and friends. If some of those on your list are of the geeky variety, then I’ve got a fun round up for you!
Goldblum Christmas Ornament | Game of Thrones Hand Towels
Bad Wolf Bottle Opener| Sherlock Wood Sign
Nerdy Must Haves
Sailor Moon choker; like every good 90’s kid, I am obsessed with chokers returning to the fashion scene. I have a bunch in my arsenal already, but I haven’t yet added some of the fandom variety. Cue amazing Sailor Moon choker. I love that it’s bright pink and has hardware, making it look a little pastel goth-y. Add the moon wand and we have hit perfection. Snag yours on Amazon for less than $15.
Always tee; if you don’t know about La Barbuda, then let me introduce you. She has such amazing geeky designs that make my heart swell and my wallet weep. Some of my favorites are her tee shirts, like this Always print. But she has stickers, prints and pins a plenty. If you are currently budgeting like I am, I am so terribly sorry for introducing you to this site. But misery loves company, you know.
Cylon raider necklace; Auburg Designs has always been a favorite of mine, and I am currently obsessed with their patina Cylon Raider necklace. I was late on the BattleStar Galactica train, and so sad I was. I even attended a BSG concert during SDCC one year and the entire cast was there mingling. I had only watched a few episodes here and there, but the hubs and friends were obsessed. They were beyond themselves hanging out with cast members, and I was all…erm, ok. How I wish I could rewind time! Anyways, this frakkin’ necklace would make up for it.
Dragon necklace; you have to remember the total lust and excitement all us Game of Thrones fangirls experienced over Dany’s amazing dragon necklace in Season 5. We were all left wanting it immediately after we saw it wrapped around her neck, and the time is now. Seems like we can get something pretty similar over at Art by Aelia. They are referred to as “Dragon Drapers,” and a lot are currently available for preorder. You can even get one custom made! Don’t get too excited, mothers of dragons!
Buzz Bags Review: Game of Thrones
Do you remember the last time I reviewed Buzz Bags here on the blog? It’s a fandom jewelry subscription box that rivals Fandom of the Month Club. They have a different theme each month and for $15 you get a bag stuffed with goodies (namely, 3-5 accessories). In my experience, the bags often come with 5 more than 3, so you are definitely getting your moneys worth. When I broke down the Random Fandom Buzz Bag last time, I had a few gripes. Specifically, I was looking for more of their quality jewelry and less filler. Ask, and you shall receive.
April’s bag was Game of Thrones themed and it was slammed with amazing finds! I was so happy to see their beautiful necklaces included (3 of them, no less!) because I thought they were definitely the stars of the show last time. I instantly fell in love with the Targaryen sigil necklace because I love me some Khaleesi, but the Westeros map and house cog are so wearable and adorable too! I’d love the way these would look paired with a choker and a deep V cut top.
What I Wore: Mother of Dragons
Our most recent Geek Girl Brunch was held at Earls in Dadeland Mall and it was Game of Thrones themed. The season 6 premiere is upon us (so, so excited) and I wanted to pay homage to my favorite character, Daenerys Targaryen. I knew I didn’t want to go full cosplay, but rather casually by emboding her vibe in something more wearable. I found such a perfect dress from Forever 21 – I don’t think I could have done better! What I love the most is that the pale blue maxi is absolutely on trend for upcoming summer days, so I see myself getting a lot of use out of it.
