5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Fathers

Fandom Friday

Thanks for the killer new logo, Darling Stewie!

So I skipped last week’s Fandom Friday because the prompt didn’t really fit me or my interests, but I’m back in the saddle again to tackle some of my favorite fictional fathers (just in time for Father’s Day in a couple of weeks).

1. Sirius Black; OK, so he wasn’t Harry’s father, but he was as close to a father figure as the boy was going to get. Sirius was tough with Harry when he had to be, but was his number one fan and supporter. What else could you want in a father figure? The feels were rather strong when he was abruptly taken away from Harry, but he remains one of my most favorite characters in the series…siriusly.

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Moms

fandom.5.friday

Well this Fandom Five comes at an amazing time, now doesn’t it?!? Sunday will be my first Mother’s Day and also the day that I reveal the gender of our first child (yes, I already know & yes, it has been torture keeping it a secret). I’m loving this specific prompt since I’ve been thinking a lot about the kind of mom I want to be and the values I want to instill in my child. These powerful mama’s are some I hope to emulate.

1. Debbie Novotny {Queer as Folk}: Debbie stood behind her son no matter what his decision was, and I can only hope to do the same. She was his number one fan and the president of his fan club. Who doesn’t want that kind of support in such a harsh and cruel judgmental world?

The Age of Adaline {Fashion Through the Ages} & GIVEAWAY!

AgeD3-010.dng

I’m sure all of you have seen the trailer for the new Blake Lively flick, The Age of Adaline. The film revolves around a woman that somehow was able to remain 29 years old for almost 8 decades. She manages to keep this a secret until she falls in love. The rest can get a little dicey. Naturally, a film spanning 8 decades is going to focus on fashion and The Age of Adaline does just that.

I thought it would be fun to show you all how you too can fool people into thinking you are ageless with your fashion – all it takes is incorporating a few key pieces from different decades into your modern wardrobe. Check it out!

70s70’s.
I tend to gravitate towards 60’s and 70’s styles. I love the more flared silhouettes and free flowing fabrics. Not to mention all the fun hair accessories! With that said, it’s easy to incorporate these looks into a modern outfit. I personally think this would make a great music festival outfit (think SunFest, South Florida locals…). Pair a basic crop top with a pair of extreme flare jeans, add a fun flower headpiece and your most comfortable pair of sandals and boom! You got a retro modern look that would make anyone flash the peace sign your way.

Squeeworthy: Pirate Radio//The Boat That Rocked

I had wanted to see this movie ever since I laid eyes on the first trailer, but finally got around to checking it out last week while the hubs and I were having a lazy night consisting of a couch, butternut squash soup & On Demand. I knew I’d like it, but I didn’t think I’d love it. Joke was on me, it seems, because I fell head over heels.

Mainly it had to do with the music, the cute British kids and the styling.
…and the music.

H to the P

So I decided to say Screw It! to Lovable Friday today to let you know how awesome Harry Potter & the Half Blood Prince was. I was planning on a full review, but lately I have felt a little less than inspired and honestly very burnt out. All I can say is my vacation to San Diego can’t come soon enough!

Although not entirely true to the book (what movie is, really?), it did a great job capturing the feel and the basics. Plus the visuals were absolutely amazing! I wasn’t able to re-read the book in time for the movie, but I think it was one of the best so far. Unfortunately, the madness at the theater made me think twice about ever attending another midnight movie again and definitely solidified my plans to watch New Moon at Cinebistro (they showed the trailer & all the little girls shrieked like they had just been stabbed).

So with that, I wish you all a great weekend & hope you are not too disappointed with my lackluster post today. Good news? I’ll be cutting my hair this morning and hitting up Yard House for happy hour! Thank goodness for a little R&R to recharge the batteries!
