Nerdy Must Haves

collage

1; Can’t Clutch This – if you haven’t heard of Studio DIY‘s subscription service, you must do so. For a ridiculously low price ($20), you get the most adorable clutch every month. I mean, look at the newest design. I simply cannot. Sure, they rope you in with extra accessories that you can not deny, but still so amazing. I am absolutely obsessed and think you should be too.

2; Usagi Bunny Pin – so there may be a theme to this month’s post because the need for kawaii is so strong these days! There are a lot of Luna and Artemis pins, but I love this variation on the cute Sailor Moon homage. I’ve always had a soft spot for Usagi’s comforter bunnies, so this one speaks to my heart and soul. Newest fandom jacket addition? Check!

3; Rainbow Skirt; I cannot have enough rainbow print anything, so naturally this one from ModCloth jumped out to me. It is the perfect summer staple, paired with one of my favorite geeky tees. In fact, now I feel like this needs to happen for SDCC!

4; Sparkle Booties – in case you haven’t noticed, my style aesthetic is rock ‘n roll geek, and these fit in so perfectly. RIGHT? I am head over heels for them and feel like they may be one of the horcruxes needed to bring Bowie back. Because Bowie left horcruxes. RIGHT? I just want these boots, OK. OKAY.

Holiday Gift Guide

Guys. This is it.
The last day of November, which means that Christmas is officially upon us. I am lucky enough to have finished 96% of my shopping and can sit pretty, but I know a lot of you are still on the hunt, trying to find the best gifts for family and friends. If some of those on your list are of the geeky variety, then I’ve got a fun round up for you!

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

Sailor Moon choker; like every good 90’s kid, I am obsessed with chokers returning to the fashion scene. I have a bunch in my arsenal already, but I haven’t yet added some of the fandom variety. Cue amazing Sailor Moon choker. I love that it’s bright pink and has hardware, making it look a little pastel goth-y. Add the moon wand and we have hit perfection. Snag yours on Amazon for less than $15.

Always tee; if you don’t know about La Barbuda, then let me introduce you. She has such amazing geeky designs that make my heart swell and my wallet weep. Some of my favorites are her tee shirts, like this Always print. But she has stickers, prints and pins a plenty. If you are currently budgeting like I am, I am so terribly sorry for introducing you to this site. But misery loves company, you know.

Cylon raider necklace; Auburg Designs has always been a favorite of mine, and I am currently obsessed with their patina Cylon Raider necklace. I was late on the BattleStar Galactica train, and so sad I was. I even attended a BSG concert during SDCC one year and the entire cast was there mingling. I had only watched a few episodes here and there, but the hubs and friends were obsessed. They were beyond themselves hanging out with cast members, and I was all…erm, ok. How I wish I could rewind time! Anyways, this frakkin’ necklace would make up for it.

Dragon necklace; you have to remember the total lust and excitement all us Game of Thrones fangirls experienced over Dany’s amazing dragon necklace in Season 5. We were all left wanting it immediately after we saw it wrapped around her neck, and the time is now. Seems like we can get something pretty similar over at Art by Aelia. They are referred to as “Dragon Drapers,” and a lot are currently available for preorder. You can even get one custom made! Don’t get too excited, mothers of dragons!

Being Geek Chic: How to Style a Fandom Skirt

IMG_0352

When thinking of fandom-related skirts, you may struggle with how it could work outside of lets say, a geek girl brunch or a local convention. I’m here to share with you how you can incorporate a fandom skirt (in this case, the beautiful Moon Transformation skirt from TeeFury) for many different styled occasions. It’s possible and appropriate!

I know I use this as a common outing, but it’s something I really miss doing on the regular, and that is: day drinking. If you are heading out on the town during the day with your girls, whether it be brunch, bar hopping or just taking in the sights while traveling, this outfit would work perfectly. Pair the skirt with a fun crop top and don’t fear too much pattern. The top I used is also a Sailor Moon reference and may have seemed too busy to pair with another patterned piece. Wrong! The two look great and the fact that they are both from the same fandom ties it in so nicely. When you add a pair of comfy, but stylish, sneakers to the mix, you are so ready to hit the pavement for a full day of fun!

Nerdy Must Haves

Tardis Peter Pan Top; if you have followed this blog for some time, you already know my love of the peter pan collar. I just find it so kitschy and whimsical, and it literally transforms any simple look into something a little more special. That’s why a peter pan collar combined with one of my favorite fandoms, Doctor Who, is just a perfect marriage. This cropped tee would look absolutely perfect with a high waisted skirt or jeans. Le swoon!

Magical Girl Gameboy; again, another mashup I’m a big fan of. Growing up in the golden age of Nintendo, Gameboys were all the rage. Combine that with glitter and magical girl symbology? I’m so sold. One up your pin game with this pretty.

Floral Artemis Pin; I stumbled upon the beautiful artistry of Alex Strangler via Instagram stalking and I am so glad I did. She is a tattoo artist that makes the most beautiful accessories and prints, and this Artemis pin is no exception. It’s unfortunately sold out, but there are some temporary tattoos of the design available. If you ask me, I’d prefer the real deal!

Cat Collar Blouse; I’m not a big fan of cats (ugh, allergies), but I do love them on my fashion pieces. This blouse sports the cutest kitty wrapping its little body around your neck (as one does), and I can see it working both for casual Fridays at the office and nights out with your girl gang. Snag this more affordable version on eBay.
