Happy Thanksgiving!

photo

I’m breaking radio silence just to wish all of you and your loved ones a very special Thanksgiving.
I’m most thankful this year for my amazing support system; they are my own personal cheerleading squad and I love them more than they know: my family, my husband, his family and our friends. Also, the luck that each and every one of them is healthy.

Give thanks for all the things you are lucky enough to have and eat lots of turkey today!

Edit; special little message from yours truly!

Temporary Hiatus

This blog is going to be a little quiet for awhile – I need some time to do some soul-searching, some meditation. Something. I have had a lot on my mind lately and generally am feeling a little confused. A little unsure. A little flustered. I don’t really know what I want out of life right now. It’s a strange time because I know I am blessed but at the same time feel like something is missing. My emotions are all jumbled into one big mess at the moment so I think a break from blogging would be best. The last thing I want to do is post because I feel I need to. I need to get my inspiration back.

Actually, I need to get me back.

Oh, & this is completely temporary. Just a little mental health vacation.
See you soon.

xoxo

Weekend Highlights: New Moon

4124990191_3062359d40

As all of you know by now, I got a group of my girlfriends together on Saturday at Cinebistro to watch New Moon, the second installment of the Twilight Saga. Before discussing the movie, I have to gush about Cinebistro! I had never been there before and was blown away! First off, it’s only open to a 21+ crowd, which immediately makes it attractive. I’ve gotten to the age where I just cannot stand screaming little tweens or really any interruptions of any kind while I am watching a movie – it drives me insane, so the thought of watching a movie with only adults really appealed to me. It was absolutely silent in there and the seats were so so so comfy and huge! The food was also really delicious, but very expensive. Also, FYI: do not order a bucket of beer before the movie. I had to use the bathroom twice throughout the movie! Not the best decision, inĀ  hindsight! Cinebistro is great, but definitely something to save for a special movie (which this was). We already have plans to visit again when Eclipse is released in June!

If you have not yet seen the movie and do not want to be spoiled, please do not continue reading!

Lovable Friday

1. New Moon Premiere!
1. New Moon Premiere!

Although I figure a lot of the die-hards hit up the theaters last night at midnight, for the rest of us less brave souls, it’s a New Moon kinda weekend! As I’ve mentioned several times already (can’t help it, I’m excited!), I’ll be going with a group of girlfriends to check out the movie at Cinebistro Saturday afternoon. Cinebistro is for adults only (21+) and provides food and drinks as you watch the movie. I’ve never been because I had been saving it for a special movie (I’ve heard it can be pricey) and I this fits the bill! I don’t have the patience nor the energy to deal with hormonal teenage girls screaming every time Robert Pattinson’s mug comes onscreen so this was my best bet. Not to say that 20-something year olds can’t be just as fanatical, but I’d like to think we know how to class it up a little better. Afterwards, I am hosting a Twilight-themed party at my pad complete with board games, specialty drinks and fangtastic treats. I hope the rest of my little twi-hards enjoy the movie – I’ll make sure to give my two cents on Monday!

Holidaze

Halloween may be my favorite holiday, but it is quickly followed by my two least favorites: Thanksgiving and Christmas. I know what you must be thinking: what a grinch, but please, sympathize with me here. Is it not stressful as all get out? You hurry to buy everyone a thoughtful gift while braving the crowds only to go completely broke in the process and don’t forget the tree! And the ornaments! And have you sent those holiday cards out yet? Hurry! As if the monetary stress and impeding time crunch doom wasn’t bad enough, put your entire family in one spot and see what happens. Some kind of drama always ensues in mine. So that results in anything but holiday cheer.

However, I’ve tried my best to change my attitude this year. It has been a really good year for us, so I figure it is only fair to close it out in the same fashion (or at least attempt to). I am doing all my holiday shopping online this year, relying mainly on Etsy, and restricting my list to only immediate family. Sorry, friends, hope you understand. I’m pretty sure we give you enough alcohol during the rest of the year to make up for any nicely wrapped gift (wink, nudge). I’m also pretty sure our annual holiday party will be put on hold this year because I just do not have time (or funds), which should minimize some stress. Finally, I hope to go artificial this year in terms of my Christmas tree, opting for a more kitschy, fun and low-maintenance feel. For reference, check out my dear friend, Missy’s Christmas habitat.

So let’s hope I am successful. It really does not help that somehow stores have completely bypassed Thanksgiving and are already going full-throttle with Christmas. Uh, seeing Santa, trees and candy canes the day after Halloween really threw me for a loop.

What do you guys think? Do you like the holiday season? How do you manage to keep your sanity?
