I’m excited to announce that I have yet another kick-ass giveaway to host this week thanks to Filter Magazine! One of the year’s best movies, Where the Wild Things Are, is being released today on DVD and Blu-Ray and I’m giving you a chance to win the movie’s amazing soundtrack along with a few other little goodies!

In case you didn’t hear all the rave reviews about the movie’s soundtrack, it is chock full of original music by Yeah Yeah Yeah’s lead singer, Karen O, and “the kids.” It’s one of the sweetest, most uplifting albums you will probably ever own – I know every time I listen to it, I can’t help but smile. Even on my worst days.

I know that I had mentioned that I was mad at Billy Corgan for his “relationship” with Jessica Simpson (he now states he was only spending time with her because he was doing the theme song for her new VH1 show…hmph), but I can never be mad at his music. So far, the two new releases off the Smashing Pumpkins’ new album, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, have been amazing as usual. They are being released for free (you can download them here), but knowing that there will be those rabid fans that need a physical release to cherish for years, Corgan decided to have special edition box sets. The first one will be available on April 20th and is now available for pre-order. Each box contains a 4-song CD, a 7″ vinyl single (containing a new song and a B-Side), and a hand-carved “leopard stone” obelisk, about 2″ tall, similar to marble (??). You know I’ll be placing my order!

GIVEAWAY: Melissa Auf Der Maur

I’m really proud to announce my first giveaway since starting Melificent a year ago!
I was contacted by the great people at Filter Magazine, one of the best indie rock publications in America, to share some great new music from one of my personal fav’s: Melissa Auf Der Maur.

I had the pleasure of both seeing Melissa perform live as well as having a lengthy chat with her several years ago. She’s such a sweetheart and really cares about her fans. She also happens to be a complete rock goddess the second she takes that stage. That’s why I’m so excited for her new album, Out of Our Minds, which will be released on March 30th. The album promises to be amazing on its own, but is accompanied by a 28-minute HD film conceived by Melissa herself (which she stars in as well). There will even be limited edition comic books and matching picture disk vinyls to complete the extensive multimedia project!
