Honestly, I was so happy to see an increase in the quantity (& quality) of cosplay this year at Supercon. 1. Desmond Prequel; He was one of my favorite characters from LOST and the most intriguing. Do you wonder what his life was really like (in full, not just via flashbacks) before his time on the island? How about in between those flashforwards? I think it would be so amazing because lets face it, The Constant was the best LOST episode of the entire series.
With SDCC fully underway today, I thought I would share with you some goodies that will be available at the Her Universe boutique in the LucasFilm Pavilion (along with a 2nd location this year at #1317).
These new designs are some of my favorites from the brand, with the girly Avengers dress really nailing it for me. The embroidered Peter Pan collar just slays it. I wish I could be telling you that I’d take detailed shots at the convention, but alas, Luna has other plans for me. So next week, the hubs and I will be embarking on a much deserved BabyMoon. What is that, you ask? Well, it’s a new trend where couples take a vacation during pregnancy – similar to a honeymoon. As my pregnancy progresses, I realized I hadn’t gone on vacation since right before I found out I was pregnant and I’m really needing one more than ever. My feet have grown sore and I’m pretty tired on a constant basis. The idea of just laying around being pampered by the sea sounds exactly like what I need right now.
We’ll be heading to The Florida Keys for 4 days to do exactly that. Now it’s not the easiest vacation to dress for since I’m expanding a little more these days, so I thought I’d help out other expectant moms and just travelers in general with some great beach essentials for those upcoming summer getaways.
Now this is an area that you can really play with even when pregnant. It may be difficult to find really cute and fun pieces to wear, but it’s a free for all when it comes to accessories! Since we are going the beach route, I wanted to make sure I had a little brightness and silliness. No one takes themselves too seriously on the beach – much less in The Keys.

I am so happy that there are so many subscription boxes coming out that aim at female geeks! It’s about time, in my opinion. Like most subscription boxes, FanMail will have a different theme every month and cater to the fashionable, yet geeky female. It is $21.99/month & usually comes chock-ful of goodies retailing at about $50 – what a deal! So what came in this month’s Fantasy box?
Well, a whole bunch of stuff did!!! The box was full of goodies, including a wedding invite to the purple wedding from Game of Thrones (who wants to be my +1?), a Toothless t-shirt from How To Train Your Dragon, Sorceror’s Stone Soap (which I’m sure will make you all sorts of magical), a gorgeous Legend of Zelda Hyrule Royal Crest necklace, Harry Potter nail decals and button, Thranduil spider brooch from The Hobbit & a couple of character pins from Once Upon a Time & Lord of the Rings.
I told you it was packed with geekery! I personally loved this box and thought that for the price, you really got a lot to choose from. Not only quantity matters, of course. I’ve reviewed other, more well-known boxes, and have been disappointed at their “filler junk.” What I liked about this box was that it had a lot of quality items that fit a broad spectrum of fandoms. For example, I’m not a Zelda fan, but my best friend is so I am going to gift her the necklace. However, every other item in this box fits my interests perfectly and they are not items I’m just going to toss. The Thranduil brooch is drop dead gorgeous, I love the pamper myself in the bath so the soap will definitely be used, I’m a nail art addict so I’m beyond excited with the decals and I love me a good dragon tee (in fact, I already wore this one to Florida Supercon a couple of weeks ago)!
Lastly, I loved the little added feature of a list of geeky media (movies, TV shows, comics) that you should check out for the month to stay up to date on all things fandom. How cool is that?
