Oh Fandom Maternity Giveaway!

IMG_6190 copy

Tee; c/o Oh Fandom Maternity | Jeans; Old Navy | Necklace; Fandomly Designs | Shoes; Jane.com | Polish; Essie’s Licorice| Lipstick; NYX’s Bewitched

So remember how I was always complaining that there was no fandom maternity wear during my pregnancy? Well, now there is! I was contacted by Oh Fandom Maternity to feature one of their awesome maternity tees, but unfortunately, was not able to in time since I was told I would be induced. The tee actually arrived the day after Luna was born, so a flat lay was the next best thing I could show you all!

Cassie decided to start Oh Fandom because she realized the Harry Potter generation was starting to have kids of their own, and wanted to give them the geeky options that they so desired. The company is starting with only Potter designs, but hopes to expand to other fandoms very soon.

I personally love the quality of the tees and think they go great with my favorite pair of maternity skinny jeans from Old Navy. Pair them with some vampy lips and nails, and I think you have the perfect Fall geeky mama look! Now, lucky for you, since I am no longer pregnant (& don’t plan on being pregnant again for a long while – if even), I am giving away this awesome tee in a size small. The giveaway will run for one week, until 11/13/15, where a winner will be chosen at random. All you have to do is follow these 3 easy steps:

1. Follow @melificent on Instagram
2. Follow @oh.fandom.maternity on Instagram
3. Leave a comment on this post with your favorite Harry Potter moment

What I Wore: Moonie Power

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

It’s really no surprise at this point that I am a huge Sailor Moon fan – I mean, it really shouldn’t be. I adore all things magical and girl power so naturally I was drawn to the anime when I was a kid and still absolutely fawn over it as an adult. I love that with the success of Sailor Moon Crystal, all new sorts of merch is being put out there, but what I’m loving the most is those made with a lot of love by independent designers, like Geekilicious!

Elise makes all sorts of fangirl goodies, like throw pillows, iPhone cases and spiral notebooks, but she just recently started incorporating more clothing into the mix and I am so glad she did. She has these beautiful mini skirts and leggings made with such quality materials. I personally can’t wait to rock some of the mini’s once I get working on my post-baby bod, but I was excited to be able to play dress up with these fantastic Usagi leggings. It’s not every day that a pregnant girl gets to feel “super cute” in an outfit, but this one did the trick! Little pro tip? Pair leggings with not only a basic top, like I did, but also with a longer button down. This will help mask any “muffin topp-ing” that could possibly occur thanks to those new baby pounds.

Nearing the Moon

collage

Things, ladies & gentlemen, are getting real. As I enter deeply in my 3rd trimester (as I’m writing this, I am already 34 weeks in), I am starting to realize that this is actually happening. A baby is going to join our party of 2 and my life will completely be changing (for the better, of course). I am no longer my bouncy, energetic self with a huge increase in symptoms and fatigue. Sometimes, I just want to lay in bed all day (and sometimes I actually do). My belly feels very heavy even though I realize it’s small, so it’s hard for me to maneuver around and sometimes hoisting myself up requires some assistance. My back and feet hurt, and I’m aching for a delicious cocktail or 7. 😉

But all these new changes, and at times, woes are so absolutely worth it when I think of what the end of this journey entails: a little bundle of Luna. Someone that is going to call me Mommy. It’s almost too much to wrap my head around and I have a hard time imagining what that connection and bond will feel like. My dreams have ramped up lately and they are all about labor and delivery. My anxiety and fear of the unknown about that experience is growing, but I have faith in my own strength and my doctor’s knowledge to get me through when the time comes.

One thing I do feel is ready. Ready for pregnancy to be over and to start this new chapter of my life. I didn’t think I would feel this way, but the anticipation to meet her, see what she looks like, what she is like in general and start on this “new parents” journey is pretty strong. I may feel differently when I have a hysterical crying newborn on me at 3am that refuses to latch leaving me in tears, but for now, I naively say, “lets do this! Or should I say, “Allons-y!” 😉

What I Wore: Dainty Avenger

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I’ve been feeling very feminine lately as my bump grows in size. With Luna a little over a month away, I am really playing up my new figure and having so much fun with what’s already in my closet. Naturally, things get a little more fun when I’m able to get some geekery in on my daily looks. I am a sucker for girly touches, and one of my favorite details is a Peter Pan collar. I am instantly drawn to any top or dress that sports one, so naturally this Avengers Assemble tee from Her Universe was the perfect addition to my wardrobe. It’s nice, soft and stretchy, which is much appreciated during pregnancy and allows for a lot of high-waisted pairings, such as one of my favorite tulle skirts. Once the two are together, it just screams girly kitsch, so obviously I had to finish the look with a frilly headpiece.

And yes, this is my bedroom. It’s becoming harder and harder to pose outdoors the farther I get in my pregnancy. I overheat and feel super weak, so you may see some changes to my style posts in the weeks to come! I’m also trying out photographing myself with a tripod, which has been challenging, but also freeing. Let me know what you think!

What I Wore: Jedi Academy

photo 3

So I know what you may be thinking. Fall? Miami doesn’t have seasons. Isn’t it summer year round? Yes, my friends. This is true. But something happens naturally within me around this time of year, and sure enough, it happened again just a couple of weeks ago. The second the calendar flips through to September, something within me changes. Something just feels a little different and I know it’s that time of year: FALL. Time of pumpkin spice, less rain and better clothes.

Her Universe has definitely gotten the “better clothes” memo because their new Fall items are amazing. Now I haven’t gone “back to school” in what seems like ages, but this varsity style Jedi cardigan would be my go-to if I was still roaming those halls. It is absolutely adorable as it is lightweight, so it’s perfect for the early Fall months if you actually get real seasons or year round for us Miami-ans. It also looks great paired with your typical Fall colors like olive green and mustard, which I am rocking in this post. I decided to go for a full blown homage to Star Wars, so I swiped my hubby’s awesome baseball cap and the outfit instantly reminded me of attending a sporting event with cold beer in hand. MMmmm, beer. I will have you soon enough.
