Fandom Friday: Five Things You Own That You Bought At Cons

 Although I love the whole cosplay and family aspect of conventions, I have to say my favorite part is discovering new vendors or artists. As I’ve said many times before, I love supporting local or independent artists, so to me this is like Christmas. I can always find such amazing and unique goodies while at conventions and usually have the best conversations with those that have created them. Take a look at some of my favorite con swag pieces throughout the years.

1. Tara McPherson Exclusive LOST silkscreen; I think this is my prized Con possession. I am a huge LOST fan and an equally huge Tara McPherson fan. Naturally, when you put both of those together, there was a fangirl explosion within me that could not be contained. I was able to snag her limited print of Sun & Jin’s last moment at San Diego Comic Con a few years back and have displayed it proudly since. My house is full of Tara, but this one is my favorite.

2. Upside Down Grin Posters; I love meeting new artists while at Con and one of my favorite to date has been Dylan of Upside Down Grin. He was such a sweetheart and his prints really speak to both my emotional and fangirl sides. Unfortunately, he wasn’t at Florida Supercon this year, but I hope I get to run into him at a future Con soon. Check out his IG for more prints!

3. Ninja Polish; Being a polish addict, I was beside myself with glee when there was an indie nail polish booth at Florida Supercon this year. I absolutely love Ninja Polish – she creates all her own beautiful shades of color inspired from various worlds of geekdom. However, my favorites have to be her glitters. I have never seen such thick and full coverage glitter polishes in all my life. You can see Nebula in action here on my manicure from I Heart Nailart. Isn’t it gorge? I had to take both Nebula and Hydra with me and I can’t wait to pair them with more manicures!

4. Sailor Moon Dress; I am a sucker for Sailor Moon merch. Not only is it my favorite anime (sorry, Cowboy BeBop), but I love the girl power it represents. I’m already covering Luna’s nursery with a bunch of Sailor Moon memorabilia, but I had to dress myself up in it too. Last year I was able to pick up this amazing dress at Florida Supercon from We Love Fine, and wore it to San Diego Comic Con. It was a total hit and I can’t wait to be able to squeeze into it again (geek girl weight loss goals).

5. Fandom Bows; When I need a subtle fandom hint, I go straight to accessories. And everyone knows I love me some sweet hair accessories! One of my favorite shops, Kitsch and Crossbones, always has the cutest geeky hair bows and I re-purpose them as not only hair clips, but also attach them to headbands (check out my Sherlock OOTD) or use them as bowties. Win/win.
