You know those DC Bombshell figures that are absolutely adorable? Well, being a Marvel girl myself, I wanted to embody that beautiful pin up vibe when putting together my casual cosplay ensemble for our most recent Geek Girl Brunch event. I knew we were going to be outside in the South Florida humidity, so it was important to dress as cool and comfortable as I could while still looking cute. It was tough to settle on a character, but I finally decided on Black Widow. At first, her character was not what it could be in the films, but after watching Civil War, I was so happy to see her flashing her badassery without abandon. Girl freaking power.
Tee; Hot Topic
Shorts; Old Navy – no longer available {more vintage option here}
Lipstick; Colourpop’s Matte X Lippie Stix in Trust Me
I went simple with a tee and shorts! I am so thankful for We Love Fine and their easy casual cosplay shirts. It takes minimal effort and still helps you look the part. In my opinion, for events where comfort is key (think busy & crazy conventions!), they are the best route. Since I went simple with my outfit, I wanted to make sure my makeup was on point with the look I was trying to achieve. I think the best makeup to getΒ such a bright and poppy look is Colourpop. If you follow me on social media, you already know I’m a total Colourpop addict, so this comes as no surprise. I just tried their new Matte X line of lippie stix and am in love. That’s what I used on my lips for this look and despite drinking and eating in the sun all afternoon, my makeup didn’t budge. It was perfectly in tact when I went in to take a shower that evening too! For those of you interested, I used Colourpop shadows and liners to achieve my eye look as well (along with Kat Von D’s tattoo liner for my wings, of course).
I was filmed for a feature on our Geek Girl Brunch chapter by Fusion at the picnic as well, and I’m so glad I choose a tee and shorts as my outfit because I was nervous and twitchy and sweaty, so keeping it simple made me feel at least a little more comfortable. Jeez. One day I’ll be a normal human being on camera. One day…

You look adorable! The Russo Brothers handle Widow SO well. I loved her in Winter Soldier and Civil War.

You look amazing! Love a good pinup look. And love the Marvel theme. Now I’m thinking of other Marvel heroines to give the pinup treatment…

This is so perfect! And no worries girl, being normal is overrated. I’m incredibly awkward on camera, which just makes for quirky photos, right? π I’ve been meaning to buy some We Love Fine for a while now, and I’m totally loving this look!
