ThinkGeek Opens in Miami

I was floored when I found out that Miami would be getting a brick and mortar ThinkGeek store. As a total consumer that has no self control, this was both a thrilling and scary concept for me, but I knew I had to be there for the grand opening. It is located in Miami’s Dolphin Mall, which is known by locals for being overpopulated and a general hell hole, so it was absolutely no surprise that grand opening day was crazy. I visited with little Luna in tow, so it was hard for me to really shop. I did a quick lap, which was nearly impossible with a stroller, and snapped some pictures to share with you guys.

Overall, the store is jam packed with goodies! The highlights for me were the Star Wars accessories, giant Pop figure wall (not pictured), and fun geek chic clothing (that Starfleet bodysuit tho). I thought it was so fun that they got a StormTrooper and Kylo to take pictures with fans, and the employees were SO nice. I can’t wait to go back when the hype dies down to shop in peace and really take everything in. Us Miami folk are so lucky to have this in our backyard!
Happy shopping, geeks!
ThinkGeek can be found at The Dolphin Mall, specifically 11401 NW 12th Street, Miami, FL 33172.

iRead: Harry Potter + The Cursed Child

I have been hearing so many opinions about Harry’s newest adventures in the script for The Cursed Child, and here is mine.
I was beyond excited to have more Harry in my life, so I devoured this easy read in two evenings (quite the feat when you are a new mom). It is so important to remember the format of this “book.” It is a script, it is meant to be acted out on stage, so sometimes it may read flat. It also doesn’t flesh out the world the way we are used to reading with JK. That is because it is meant to be fleshed out on stage, and I’m sure is mindblowing and gorgeous. These are things to keep in mind before reading this “book,” and things that I have seen that are popping up in reviews as strikes against it, which isn’t fair.
With that said, lets get into the SPOILER FILLED review. You have been warned. Do not continue if you have not read the script or do not to be spoiled.
What I Wore: Cursed Child

Like every other good little Potterhead, I went to the midnight release party of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child script at my local independent bookstore. As if attending another midnight release party after nearly 9 years wasn’t exciting enough, it also fell on my birthday weekend (since Potter and I share one – humble brag). How amazing is that? I knew I had to wear something really special, so I got this crop top custom made by Jessica of DressicaDresses. You may remember I featured her shop as one of my favorite Supercon vendors. It was absolutely perfect and the evening was even more so! Sure, it was ridiculously hot in the bookstore and the lines at the bar were out of hand (yes, our indie bookstore also has a bar…and a cafe – we even had live music), but it was such a throwback to those good old Potter days of my past and a great way to celebrate another year of living the geek girl lifestyle.

Now, what did you all think of the script?
I’ll be reviewing it at length on the blog soon!
