Super Kawaii Fall {Lace & Lore}

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

Now that it is Fall (well, for everywhere but South Florida), you may think you have to transition to darker shades and tones to fit the season. I say NAY. Thanks to stumbling on the wonderful geeky ladies behind Lace + Lore, I come to show you otherwise. Fall can be full of fun, whimsy and some serious pops of color. How can you do it? Simple! Just check out how I transitioned these 3 great pieces into Fall staples!

Ice Cream Skirt

I am loving this way too kawaii for its own good ice cream skirt paired with a more subdued and classic denim blouse. Make sure you button it all the way to the top and accent it with a bold statement necklace. Paired with fun boots and a warm hat, you are ready to brave the cooler elements. If it gets really chilly this time of year where you are from, just throw on a leather jacket or compliment the look with a pair of fun tights!

Fandom Friday: 5 Favorite Things About Autumn

Fandom Friday

Created by The Nerdy Girlie & Super Space Chick

As I mentioned earlier this week, there’s just something about this time of year that brings a spring to my step. Although we don’t have seasons here in Miami, there is definitely a different frame of mind (at least for me) and I’m going to try my best to transfer those feelings to 5 bullet points. Here we go!

1. Pumpkin Everything! I absolutely love pumpkin flavored whatever. You name it, I’ll take 10 please. Confession: a few weeks ago I was already asking my local Cold Stone’s where their pumpkin flavored ice cream was because I took it as sacrilege that the month of September had started and I did not see any available (rest assured, it is now).

What I Wore: Dainty Avenger

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I’ve been feeling very feminine lately as my bump grows in size. With Luna a little over a month away, I am really playing up my new figure and having so much fun with what’s already in my closet. Naturally, things get a little more fun when I’m able to get some geekery in on my daily looks. I am a sucker for girly touches, and one of my favorite details is a Peter Pan collar. I am instantly drawn to any top or dress that sports one, so naturally this Avengers Assemble tee from Her Universe was the perfect addition to my wardrobe. It’s nice, soft and stretchy, which is much appreciated during pregnancy and allows for a lot of high-waisted pairings, such as one of my favorite tulle skirts. Once the two are together, it just screams girly kitsch, so obviously I had to finish the look with a frilly headpiece.

And yes, this is my bedroom. It’s becoming harder and harder to pose outdoors the farther I get in my pregnancy. I overheat and feel super weak, so you may see some changes to my style posts in the weeks to come! I’m also trying out photographing myself with a tripod, which has been challenging, but also freeing. Let me know what you think!

Cuddle+Kind

Cuddle + Kind dolls2 print

As I get ready to enter the world of mommy-dom, certain causes feel closer to me than ever. Naturally, I’ve always loved children as I work with them and their families every day but now there is another component factoring in. I’m going to have one of these little things and I will officially be part of a family. I’m sure my husband and I will do anything possible to make Luna’s life better and assure that she is happy and healthy. That’s why I was instantly drawn to Cuddle+Kind.

The brand was created by the parents of 3 children, Jennifer and Derek Woodgate, on a mission to feed children in need. After viewing a documentary on the devastating impact of childhood hunger on millions of children around the world, it inspired them to help. With a background in health, they recognized the crucial role nutrition plays in a child’s development and thus, Cuddle+Kind was born. For every Cuddle+Kind doll purchased, the company provides 10 meals to hungry children around the world through giving partners, World Food Program USA and Children’s Hunger Fund.

And look at those gorgeous dolls! Each is handcrafted in Peru and you can tell they are made with all the love in the world. They would add the perfect splash of color to your child’s nursery or room, and would naturally become one of their favorite cuddle buddies. Hell, they may become one of mine!

Le Clé Jewelry

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I am so happy I found out about a company like La Clé (“the key” in French). They are a wonderful little organization based in Washington DC that wants you to focus on the positive. They provide key necklaces in different colors – each one representing something different. You are encouraged to wear your key and really hone in on those sentiments and embrace their meaning. As the color on the key fades, you will have a naked key. If you post a picture of your now naked key on social media (#nakedkey), La Clé will make a donation to the charity of your choice! How absolutely amazing is that???

Although it was hard to choose, I ultimately went with the orange key, which symbolizes unstoppable and focused. As I’ve mentioned several times on my blog lately, I have felt so inspired to go for my dreams and make things happen. They may be baby steps right now, but I have big-time goals and I KNOW I will achieve them. Having this key around my neck will definitely be that daily reminder to continue pushing for what I want out of life. As for the charity I will choose when my key goes naked, La Clé’s donation will have to go to Autism Speaks.

Do you want to continue the positivity train and get your own La Clé necklace? Now is your chance to do just that for FREE! I’m hosting a giveaway to get your own colored key so that you too can embrace the positive in your life while helping someone else’s.  All you have to do is:

  • Leave a comment below with which color key you would get and why

The winner will be picked at random and announced one week from today, September 22nd!  Good luck to everyone!

Disclosure; I was provided with a free necklace by Le Clé in return for this blog post. However, all opinions are my own.
