Luna’s Instagram

Screen Shot 2015-06-17 at 7.04.03 PM

For those of you that want even more baby style on the Luna front, you can now get your fill over on Instagram. I’ve opened an account to showcase all the cute outfits I’ve bought and put together for the little one and I hope to be updating weekly with new baby #ootd & lifestyle material.

With only 2 posts, the account has already been featured on Evermore Boutique‘s IG. Boy, I think Luna is going to be better at this fashion blogging thing than her mama. 😉

Add the account here.

iRead: The Fangirl’s Guide to the Galaxy

Screen Shot 2015-06-08 at 8.20.37 PM

I couldn’t have loved this short and adorable guidebook to being a fangirl by Sam Maggs any more. Seriously. I found myself squealing, “yes!!!,” multiple times while reading certain passages and often read them aloud to my husband (to his constant chuckles). It basically contains everything needed to know about living the fangirl life, except what made this book special is that it spoke about fangirls in a positive light. Oftentimes the word is used in a derogatory manner, and I really appreciated that this book celebrated the fangirl with constant reassurance that you do not have to apologize for your strong feelings, uncontrollable actions and quirky habits. Paired with interviews with some pretty important ladies in the geek world and an entire section dedicated to feminism, it is the perfect gift to either give yourself or that geeky girl in your life. In fact, I plan on circulating the book around my circle of geeky girlfriends.

My absolute favorite part of the entire book though was the section dedicated to #thatconlife as I have affectionately hashtagged it. It detailed every single detail of convention culture whether you are a newbie, a cosplayer or a seasoned pro. Whatever Sam discussed, she was right on point – down to the con crud (I suffered from this illness a few years back after SDCC, and it was beyond awful) and post-con depression (I got this pretty bad after last year’s SDCC).

Basically, pick up this amazing book if you would label yourself as a geek girl, are dating a geek girl or would like to (wink wink). It’s a quick and enjoyable read with a lot of resources that are sure to make you smile and squee (sometimes all at once)!

What I Wore: RocksBoxin’

DSCF3386

After receiving my first Rocksbox, I made some slight alterations to what I would have liked to receive: namely, more every day wear. My stylist promptly listened and my next box came with exactly that! I’m on kind of a gold kick lately (from fashion to design) so I was happy to see that all my pieces were gold and very versatile. I loved the way they paired up with this casual glam outfit that I wore to celebrate my mother-in-law’s birthday. Don’t forget, if you want to try out Rocksbox for free, use my code: melibellyxoxo.

The statement necklace was perfect with this tee I picked up at Forever 21, which is the *perfect* cut and style to rock with a pregnant belly. In fact, I wish they had more because I would have bought the whole lot! Plus, the Shakespeare quote is one of my favorites so it was a win/win. I actually paired this look with a pair of heels – the first time I’ve worn some in quite awhile. My feet weren’t very happy with me at the end of the day: they were all puffy and sore. Wah for pregnancy glamor!

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Fictional Fathers

Fandom Friday

Thanks for the killer new logo, Darling Stewie!

So I skipped last week’s Fandom Friday because the prompt didn’t really fit me or my interests, but I’m back in the saddle again to tackle some of my favorite fictional fathers (just in time for Father’s Day in a couple of weeks).

giphy

1. Sirius Black; OK, so he wasn’t Harry’s father, but he was as close to a father figure as the boy was going to get. Sirius was tough with Harry when he had to be, but was his number one fan and supporter. What else could you want in a father figure? The feels were rather strong when he was abruptly taken away from Harry, but he remains one of my most favorite characters in the series…siriusly.

Halfway to the Moon

Screen Shot 2015-06-08 at 5

It’s pretty hard to wrap my head around the fact that I am at the halfway point of my pregnancy. I remember reading that positive pregnancy test and how slow the first trimester crept by. Ever since then, I feel like I blinked and here I am: 20 weeks. Half way until I meet my very special someone that will change my life forever.

Although I’m feeling largely like myself again, I get frequent reminders that I am building another human being throughout the day. I still think I have the energy levels that I used to and I’m often grinded to a halt by sheer exhaustion (or just embarrassing panting spells) or have a hard time standing up (due to some killer tailbone pain). But my absolute favorite reminder is the little flutters, kicks and tumbles I feel in my growing belly. Luna is an active little girl and she often does gymnastics when I’m sitting down working or relaxing. It’s such an amazing experience and so unbelievable at times.

My hormones are definitely reeling and I feel like I’m suffering from Bipolar Disorder daily – often cycling through moods quickly, which can be pretty tough on some days. I try to remind myself that it is part of the process and not really something I should take to heart, but sometimes, my feelings are easily hurt and so is my morale. I try to keep things that make me very happy at the forefront of my life as much as possible, such as party planning for our baby shower or Geek Girl Brunch Miami, or blogging away. This helps combat my sometimes overwhelming icky feelings.

I’m looking forward to the next half of this journey, can’t wait for what it has in store for me, and am excited I get to share it all with all of you lovely people!
