Welcome to America, Bluey!

Finding quality TV for Luna is hard, especially in a YouTube world. I know everyone has their own opinions on screen time and how little or how much they let their kids watch and where. It’s an even bigger topic of contention for me, being a behavior analyst, but I take a realistic approach that can be addressed on another day, at another time!

I really love for Luna to watch things with appropriate and relatable lessons, that also teach her how to be a good human. We had funnily enough stumbled on Bluey, an Australian cartoon series, on YouTube of all places (well, let me clarify, Luna stumbled on it). Luna adored it and so did we, but we noticed that it wasn’t available to watch on our Disney+ app, despite being on Disney Junior. So Luna would continue to watch short clips of the few Bluey episodes she could find on YouTube, until we found out Bluey was finally making her way to America to join the lineup over on Disney+!

We were lucky enough to be invited to Bluey’s welcome party this week at State of Kid, and it was so fun! The kids got to have plenty of 1:1 time with Bluey, do some arts and crafts, watch 2 episodes, play games and finally have an epic dance party with Bluey! It was such a fun time in a great space, and Luna is even more obsessed with Bluey than before.

Make sure to check out this adorable show that centers around a very energetic, imaginative and curious blue heeler puppy and her family available on Disney+ now!

How to Style the Perfect Disney Outfits

It comes as no surprise that I am a big Disney fan. We are annual passholders and try to take advantage of our perks as often as humanly possible. That means lots and lots of opportunities to style Disney outfits. That means lots and lots of reasons to buy Disney outfits. That means lots and lots of reasons my wallet will hate me. Which, ultimately, means lots and lots of chances to get creative!

I get a lot of compliments, both in park and on socials, about my Disney style, so I figured I would share some of my secrets with you all to show how easy it can be (for your wallet too!).

How to do Disney with a Toddler

While on our most recent trip to Disney, I got a lot of DM’s through Instagram asking me how we do it. We are by no means Disney experts (even though I grew up going to the parks regularly), but we do feel like we have what works for us down. That may not work for you all, but sharing is caring and it just might improve your visit in one way or another!

This year, Luna turns 3, which means she is no longer free at the parks (sniff). I already bought her annual pass and she has her first ever magic band waiting for her, so look out for a lot more Disney content over the next year, which is going to be tons of fun. Before I jump into our tips and tricks, I get a lot of people asking me not only how we do it, but why. It’s viewed as a very stressful vacation for parents, but we look forward to our trips just as much as Luna does. Why? Disney to me represents magic and dreams. It’s everything that is beautiful about childhood, and I want Luna to grow up feeling those things. As most of you know, I haven’t really lost that childlike feeling of wonder, and it’s definitely awakened whenever I see Cinderella’s Castle, the characters or Mickey-shaped treats. I want Luna to experience those feelings of magic and imagination, and I want her to hold them close as she gets older, and to me, it all starts here.

How To: Fandom Jacket

First off, HI everyone! I am back to blogging and am so happy to be here, sharing the things I love with you all. Look forward to lots of fun DIY’s, coverage of Miami geek-centric events and, as always, geeky fun + fashion! With that said, I’m launching into something I’ve really gotten into lately when I want to stand out with something unique: customizing vests/jackets. As you all know, I rocked my very first “fandom jacket” last year at SDCC, and since then, I’ve wanted to have several different themed jackets and vests depending on the event/location/mood. I started on a motherhood vest late last year, and just started on my Disney one.

Reason I like making these is because with all the geeky pop culture merch flying out of seemingly everywhere and anywhere lately, it is hard to stand out with something original at times. I like thinking that with one of these, no one will have my exact outfit, and that makes me feel pretty special. They are also so fun to put together! So fun, I decided to share my process with all of you!

What I Wore: Disney Chic

GUYS.
I have such big news and it is so exciting.
I AM A DISNEYWORLD ANNUAL PASSHOLDER.

Who knew that this Universal loving soul would go #Disneyside.
Well, I did. Naturally. I think I’ve expressed how crazy my Disney love used to be when I was younger. I even wanted to work for Disney when I was a kid being an animator (I used to draw. A lot.). I chose going to Disney with my closest friends over having a quinces and my 21st birthday was Stitch themed (F growing up, amirite?).

But this right here is like a level up. I was a pass holder for Universal but literally the second I became one, I got pregnant so that was all over. This is the first time I feel like an elite member of a theme park and I am so absolutely excited to take advantage of it. The moment Luna was born I knew I wanted her to be a Disney kid. I grew up on Disney and I can honestly say that it molded me and taught me a lot of great things. The most important: to dream. I love Disney’s message and although I can have my gripes here and there, I am a huge supporter of the Mouse. So the love was reborn when she came into the picture.
And here we are.
Look forward to a lot of fun Disney style posts in the year to come, and a whole lot of magic.
