What I Wore: Earl Jeans Brunch

IMG_4623

A couple of weeks ago, I got the chance to attend a blogger brunch hosted by the lovely Netty of The Fashionable ESQ. We’ve been friends since high school and although we don’t see each other all the time, we always make it a point to support each other and our endeavors, and I absolutely love that. Plus, we start exactly where we left off every time we spend time together, which is always the hallmark of a true friendship. She is working with Earl Jeans, and they were wonderful enough to send all attendees some great pieces to wear while Love is Blind provided the absolutely delicious eats and tasty cocktails (that I could not enjoy – wah).

Now entering my 7th month of pregnancy, I was thrilled that this embellished top fit, and complemented my new maternity jeans from Old Navy so well. It also felt great to rock a heel (in the form of a wedge) for the day after schlubbing it in sandals for so long. I decided to pair this look with some Doctor Who elements, which tied in perfectly with the dark blue tones. Overall, it felt nice to dress up and spend some girl time with favorites and make some new friends in the process.

Top; c/o Earl Jeans
Jeans; Old Navy
Wedges; Target
Shades; Zara {similar}
TARDIS bracelet; Hot Topic
Hair bow; c/o 1138 Clothing
Lipstick; Clinique’s Spiced Apple

Perler Therapy

Processed with VSCOcam with f2 preset

I found out about Perler Bead crafting through a fellow Geek Girl Brunch Officer. She posted this adorable Loki hair clip that she made for some of the girls for a brunch and I was immediately interested. Being such a huge fan of geeky accessories, I definitely wanted to know how to make my own! I went out and bought supplies, and after some trial and errors (pony beads are not the same as perler beads, FYI), I got the hang of it and am making some for Miami’s Doctor Who themed brunch this month!

It’s a totally relaxing process for me and another way to express my creativity without being overly time consuming or costly. I also love that I get to practice my fine motor skills (they aren’t the best) while putting down my patterns. Another bonus is that I get to make handcrafted gifts for my friends, which is always a fun treat! I’m starting with adult hair clips, but I hope to make baby hair clips, keychains and bowties (both adult & baby) soon. The best part is that you only need a few supplies, and all of them can be found at your local Michaels, Hobby Lobby or similar craft store.

If you want to get in on the fun, check out these tutorial videos on YouTube that I used as reference when learning;

Nerdy Must Haves

collage

1. TARDIS floppy hat; GeekyU hits it out of the ballpark again with this incredible on trend floppy hat for summer emblazoned with the iconic police box logo (plus don’t miss the bow in the back). This would look so adorable paired with a bright red or plain black bikini (don’t forget to pack your Sonic along with your sunscreen).

2. Baymax crossbody bag; I can’t get enough of Baymax related anything, so it should come as no surprise that I am in love with this adorable crossbody bag (the emoji ones are cute too, but…) from Spree Picky. I simply have to have it to complete my next LBD ensemble.

3. Unicorn champagne horn; I honestly think I may die if I am not sipping my champagne out of this incredible UNICORN HORN when the clock turns 12 NYE this year. I mean, it’s clearly the best thing I’ve ever laid my eyes on. Do you think people would judge me if I brought it everywhere…weddings, blogging events, birthday parties, etc. No, right? Cool.

4. Kawaii badass crop; I don’t know about you, but I like the idea of being a kawaii badass. Who doesn’t want to be adorable and dangerous? This sailor scout in training would rock this crop top all over the streets of Miami…well, post baby that is. #weightlossgoals

 1. TARDIS; Yeah yeah, surely on everyone’s list would be the TARDIS. But, I mean, who doesn’t want to travel across time and space with the Doctor? Can I pick which regeneration I’d like to travel with? Because it’s 10 or nothing! 😉

1. Desmond Prequel; He was one of my favorite characters from LOST and the most intriguing. Do you wonder what his life was really like (in full, not just via flashbacks) before his time on the island? How about in between those flashforwards? I think it would be so amazing because lets face it, The Constant was the best LOST episode of the entire series.
