Nerdy Must Haves

musthaves

1. Clever Girl Coppertone Tee; There are many reasons I love this shirt: the Coppertone reference being a Miami girl, Chris Pratt’s adorable butt and RAPTORS. Clearly this shirt was made for me and I must have it in my possession, like…yesterday. Belly be damned.

2. LSP purse; I wish I would have seen this one while putting together my cosplay for Supercon! How lumpin’ GREAT is this LSP purse? It is all handmade and SO FRESH TO DEATH. I may just snag it for some future everyday cosplay.

3. Doctor Who Dress; Sure, everyone is kind of sick of seeing the usual DW dresses: the TARDIS, a dalek, yeah yeah ok. However, these beautiful dresses from Etsy seller, KYOCATClothing, are so unique and beautiful! They don’t stop with Whovian fashions either – definitely check out their other designs and try not to spend your entire paycheck.

4. Cumberbatch Crop Top; Soooooooooo….this crop top is BEYOND ridiculous. I’m aware of that. But somehow, I still need it in my life. This, my friends, is what we call the struggle of a modern fangirl. For some strange reason, I feel compelled to wear Benedict Cumberbatch’s face all over my body and I’m OK with that. Sometimes I wonder if I need therapy, but then I realize the top is sold out so I can’t be the only one.

5 Fandom Friday: Favorite Aliens

Fandom Friday

Brought to you by The Nerdy Girlie & Super Space Chick

Who doesn’t love thinking of the possibilities that space could offer? Other universes, potential alternative home planets and, most intriguing, other life forms. Are we really alone in this expansive universe? It’s an age old question (and one the History Channel loves to delve into) that has had our culture obsessing over alien life for quite awhile. It’s no surprise that aliens are commonly included in most sci-fi shows and movies: both depicted as evil and adorable. So without further ado, here are 5 of my favorite aliens:

1. The Doctor; You know that The Doctor would make it to #1 on my list, right? Duh. Although he is an alien, The Doctor represents hope in humanity and acceptance. He helps others grow and discover who they truly are, and how special they are. He warmed my heart during my darkest of times, so The Doctor (specifically 10) is my all-time favorite alien.

Fandom of the Month Club

Fandom of the Month Club is a completely genius idea! It is a monthly subscription box, but filled with fandom jewelry. The fandom changes monthly giving everyone an opportunity to geek out to their favorites. I follow the creator, Erin (@thegeekycauldron on IG), and when I saw her posts mentioning the service, I knew I had to check it out. Fandom-themed jewelry every month for only $13/month? Where do I sign up?

Obviously I had my reservations. Would the quality be top notch? Will I enjoy the fandom for the next month? Will I actually wear the pieces I receive? Those reservations disappeared in a cloud of smoke the second I received my first box.

Naturally, I was overjoyed when I opened the envelope and saw what fandom was being targeted. Doctor Who? Allons-y! I immediately loved the little themed jewelry sacks (I’m actually using it to store my jewelry for Megacon weekend – great for traveling!), and what it held inside was even better!

Nerdy Must Haves

Who Leggings; Leggings are a girl’s best friend. Why? They are easy to pack, feel like you are wearing pajamas and come in all sorts of fandoms. What’s not to love? Personally, I’m all about this new pair from TeeFury. Although I’m not the happiest with their sneaker line (dude, lay off the priciness), this new line of leggings is spot on. I wish I would have been able to snag a pair before next weekend’s MegaCon! Boo hoo.

Gryffindor Tee; This is one of the better designed house shirts I’ve seen in awhile. I love the large house animal combined with each house’s characteristics. Naturally, I chose my own house to showcase, but fear not. They come in all houses, shapes and colors (er, maybe). It’s also temporarily on sale so treat yoself while you can!

Potter flats; OK, so there is going to be kind of a theme during this post of must haves. I am completely and utterly obsessed with this beautifully designed flats from Electrique Sole on Etsy. Considering the prices I’ve seen for other custom shoes, they are a steal at $45 and are completely adorable. Again, I wish I could have scooped up a pair for Megacon, but I’m pretty sure I’m going to take advantage and order them for April’s first Geek Girl Brunch!

Hogwarts T-Shirt Dress; Another great Potter find. This shirt dress looks so comfy and the perfect addition to any convention wardrobe. Just pair it with a denim jacket and some cute sneakers and you are good to go. Added plus? You can rock this adorable look for Sunday brunch, running errands or date night! It’s so versatile and subtle. A total score if you ask me.

What I Wore: Sunday Adventures

You may think Friday night or Saturday may be the time for adventures, but Sunday is definitely my favorite day.  Monday is lingering right around the corner, which makes it that much more special. You really want to hold on to the freedom, the experiences before another stressful work week begins. And that belief created our Sunday Fundays. We try to go somewhere new every weekend and this time around was The Alchemist in Wilton Manors. It’s such a charming little coffee and sandwich shop that grows their own produce and hand roasts their coffee. It’s also surrounded by other little shops and restaurants in the Eucalyptus Gardens. Overall, a great way to start Spring in South Florida.

Tardis crop; Etsy
Maxi Skirt; H&M {similar}
Sandals; Payless
Hat; Forever 21
Ring; Kitson {similar}
Druzy choker; The Midnight Gypsy via Five Sisters
Tolkien adventure necklace;  Be Muse
