What I Wore: LA Living

I’m back from vacation, and I come bearing gifts! Namely, an outfit post! It feels like centuries since I did one, but I’m glad I was able to squeeze a few minutes out of our hectic visit to LA in order to shoot one. We were there for a friend’s wedding and had entirely too much fun. The weather was spectacular as well, allowing me to pull out all those new winter items I never get to rock back home. Leather jackets, boots, scarves and this immensely comfy sweater tunic. And yes, I’m bringing back jeggings (did they go away?) because they are possibly the best article of clothing when you are jet lagged, tired and hung over – not that I was any of those things when these photos were taken. I promise. 😉

What I Wore: Jolly Green Melificent?

Still attempting the “trying to love shorts” project. And I have to admit, I’m kind of losing this battle. I just do not find them very flattering, although I did think this outfit was very cute, festive and summer-y. I’m not going to toss all my shorts in a bonfire anytime soon, but I believe I’ll stick to skirts, dresses, pants and jeans for now. You know who is the real star of this post? MY HOUSE. Isn’t it just the cutest??? Sorry, I have homeowners tourettes. I also loved that I am now able to twirl my hair and apply some hairspray and voila! Instant beach hair! It’s very hard to even consider getting a haircut on days like this!

Additionally I want to thank a lot of you for giving me recommendations last week on places to find great shorts for my body type. As I’m sure you can all tell, I am very petite on top, while my hips don’t lie (thank you Cuban roots), so I appreciate a good curvy fit. I will definitely be checking out Ann Taylor Loft as suggested, and so should all you other ladies with a similar shape!

What I Wore: Sweet Heart

You know how I love a good happy outfit to turn my frowns upside down, and this one is just perfect. The second I put it on and tried to think of a good and fun shoot for it, I couldn’t help but grab the bubbles and tie my hair in pigtails. It was just screaming for it. Every now and then, I think it’s perfectly OK to act childish. Alright, so I pretty much think this is OK every day. Life is too short to take so seriously, would you not agree?

ps; I think I may be completely obsessed with Revlon’s lip butters. Have you tried them?

What I Wore: Mellow Yellow

Although I live in one of the most humid and sticky places in the US, I have a hard time rocking shorts. I’m just not a huge fan, but find them a necessity to my wardrobe due to our weather. To make them a little more desirable, I decided to stock up on fun summer colors. I was lucky to find a killer sale at the Gap outlet a couple of weeks ago on just that, and these were one of my take aways! Aren’t they a fun and sunshine-y shade of yellow?

What I Wore: Impromptu Getaway

Although my week had a lot of high’s, there were quite a few low’s as well. It was stressful and I was pretty sure the end was nowhere in sight, so when the light that was Friday evening strolled around, I was ready to just relax. I had mentioned on Facebook that I wanted to lay out on a beach and do nothing, but I knew that wasn’t going to be possible. I had a lot of things on my agenda for the weekend, basically leaving me no time to just sit back and relax so I decided to take things into my own hands. Sometimes what you really need to do is cancel all your plans and take an impromptu mental health day. And I did just that.

I grabbed the hubs, we piled into the Cube and we made our way down to The Florida Keys. It was a gorgeous day, and we spent it admiring the scenery, looking at boats we will never be able to afford, drinking girly drinks (yum) and eating seafood (lobster to be exact – double yum) while ocean side. It was a beautiful and perfect escape – I highly recommend doing the same every now and then. Life is too short to not sit back and enjoy it sometimes.
